Driving Tour to Frank Lloyd WrightÕs

Westcott HouseSunday, June 24

1340 EAST HIGH STREET | SPRINGFIELD, OHIO

The Westcott property is the only Prairie style house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in the state of Ohio. Westcott House was designed in 1906 and built in 1908. For reasons unknown, The Westcott House has remained an undiscovered relic of Wright, a lost Wright artifact. The nearly 5 year, $5.8 million, restoration of the Westcott House was completed in 2005. The Westcott House is a unique example of Prairie Style architecture and the undeniable expression of America's preeminent architect, Frank Lloyd Wright.

We will gather at Hilliard Green Park, 4915 Dori Park Dr. Columbus, OH 43228 at 1:00pm and depart at 1:30pm. The drive will last about an hour as we are taking the back roads. Our tour is at 3:00pm and will last about one hour. We will depart for home around 4:30. Dinner, if you wish to join us, will be at LouieÕs Grill in Hilliard. 4453 Cemetery Rd. Hilliard, OH

Space is limited to 20 people. R.S.V.P. activities@morpca.org and mail A check for $9 per person, made out to

2012 Arthritis Foundation Cruise-In & Classic Auto Show July 6 & 7, 2012

Return to Dublin’s Metro Center as the Central Ohio Chapter of the Arthritis Foundation invites Porsche drivers to join them for the 30th Annual Classic Auto Show & Cruise-In. This year will feature Cadillac celebrating 110 years, 45 years each of the Chevrolet Camaro & Mercury Cougar. This is central Ohio’s premier car-related event – attracting more than two thousand display vehicles each year. This unique Dublin setting is perfect for a car show – with Porsche having Saturday’s prime parking area in the grass, under the trees by the pond. The Arthritis Foundation Show is being promoted as a multi-region Porsche Club of America event and thus we hope to have numerous entries from the surrounding Regions. On Saturday, July 7h, you’ll have a full day at the exciting Classic Auto Show, with 47 judged classes of automobiles and vintage motorcycles on display, special Show-Within-A-Show groups and several regional events taking place. Rock ‘N’ Roll Oldies will spin all day long, followed by a fantastic live concert by The Van Dell's in the evening! Saturday morning the gates open from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Porsche Show-Within-A-Show will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Like last year, there is no formal judging; this will be a ‘Peoples Choice’ show. The registered participants will be voting on 7 Porsche classes broken down by the data from prior year’s models and this year’s pre-registration attendance. We will also have a display only class. The 1st Place winner and the Award of Excellence winners from each of the 7 classes will be announced and receive their awards at the Porsche display area by 3:00 p.m. Also presented at that time will be the Floyd Acton Award -- given annually to a MORPCA member who best exemplifies the spirit of PCA and the friendships it creates. Last year’s winners Bill Blake will be given a ‘keeper trophy’ as he passes the real one onto the 2012 recipient. The Best of Show Porsche award winner will be announced and presented from the main stage. Contact Andy Trux at andrewtrux@cs.com or Peter Norman Jr. at quadcam928s@yahoo.com for further information. Register online at www.arthritisautoshow.com. Registration is now open! The website also has some great pictures from past years’ auto show. Pre-registration deadline is June 22nd. All pre-registrants will receive a commemorative present. Plan also to attend the Friday, July 6th Cruise-In, which has become the largest event of its kind in Ohio. More than 1,200 street rods, muscle cars, vintage cars, European exotics and other cruisers from the 1920s to the present will make their appearance. 28-years of tradition will continue with a presentation of over 100 awesome 6-foot-high trophies to the Top Cruise-In cars. A huge variety of terrific food will be available at the concession stands, so plan to come early and spend the entire day with your family and friends, enjoying the Phil Dirt and the Dozers concert in the evening! We invite all of our Porsche drivers, including those not actively participating in the show, to come out to the Dublin Metro Center to enjoy plenty of lawn parking in the shade, great eats and the wonderful fellowship that is always the hallmark of the Arthritis Foundation’s Classic Auto Show & Cruise-In.

Drivers Education at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, May 11-12, 2012

Two days for $375!

Two-days of Driver Education The Mid-Ohio Region presents the fifth annual Driver Education event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio. This is a great opportunity to learn and practice the techniques of high performance driving on the 2.4 mile, 15 turn challenging track known as "the Most Competitive in the U.S." Student drivers will be teamed-up with Mid-Ohio Region instructors. This is an excellent time to learn more about your car and enhance your driving skills. This is not a racing school. It’s an opportunity to drive your car in a fun, safe, learning environment. Best of all, you’ll get to meet and socialize with a wide array of enthusiasts anxious to challenge their skill and knowledge. Classroom Instruction Comprehensive classroom sessions cover many of the basic concepts that are the foundation for high performance driving. Topics include car prep, driving position, attitude, vision, weight transfer, tire adhesion and cornering techniques. On-Track Driving Students will drive the track at speed during multiple 20-30 minute sessions with an instructor riding along providing guidance. This allows students to enhance car control skills by applying and practicing the techniques discussed in class. Run groups are established to allow students to run laps with other drivers of similar experience. Passing is only allowed on designated sections of the course, and under controlled circumstances, making for a very safe environment. Annual Putnam Park Driver Education: July 7 – 8, 2012

The Mid-Ohio Region (MORPCA) is hosting its annual driver education (DE) event at Putnam Park Road Course, Mt. Meridian, Indiana. MORPCA was one of the first clubs to hold a driver education at Putnam Park.

This year we will have plenty of track time, if necessary we will purchase extra track time to give you the best value in a DE. Track will go hot at 8am instead of 9am. Putnam is a favorite among racers as well as beginning drivers. The 1.8 mile long, ten turn road course is an excellent layout. It makes for a terrific place to begin your high performance driving experience or continue with skill refinement. Our two day event will include extensive track time as well as class room instruction. PCA instructors will be assigned to each driver. Dan Clarke, a professional Indy driver, will return again this year to offer personal one-on-one instruction.

We will also offer touring laps at lunch on both Saturday and Sunday. For about 20 minutes you can go out on the track at touring lap speeds (never exceeding normal highway speeds). You can practice your line, locate landmarks for braking, turn in points, etc. and best of all you can take your family along. Yes, children can go too as long as they wear proper restraints. No helmets, just seat belts.

Again this year, we will use www.clubregistration.net for student and instructor registration. Please note that instructors must be a current MORPCA approved instructor to sign up, if you have questions please contact the Chief Driving Instructor, Jeff West at rb101@windstream.net .

Need more information about our DE? Go to www.morpca.org or contact us:

Street Cars:1985 Porsche 911 Carrera

Track prepped car that is still street legal. The cool part is you can drive it 300 miles to an event, run all weekend and drive it home. The dry sump oil system and full race suspension give the car a fantastic feel and minimize the wear to the car. The current setup is optimized for tract day conditions. In other words the tires do not roast off the car in a couple of sessions. The brakes are stock calipers with Hawk HT10 Pads and titanium backing plates. They last forever. The current set has a full year on them and are only half worn. Suspension mods include: adjustable through the body front sway bar, adjustable rear sway bar, 22mm front torsion bars, 32 mm rear torsion bars, Weltmeister bushings, and custom Koni double adjustable racing shock. Rebuilt two seasons ago and still great.

Inside the car is not shabby either. Rennline floorboards, Momo wheel, short-shifter with lock out gate, roll over protection (bolt in half cage), racing seats and belts. Mods to the body: TRE fiber-glass bumpers front and rear, new paint last year, and Rennline tow hooks. The car won best 80’s car and Porsche at a recent car show in New Albany, OH and run 1:48 lap times on club course at Mid-Ohio on street tires: view rennspeed 911 on You Tube.

Why am I selling, you ask? Simple - started a business and need to raise capital. I am sure you have questions, I would, so email me and I will try my best to answer.
