MEDITATION QUESTIONS…

Why do you think you were picked for student leadership?

What do you like about Archway? What do we need to improve on at Archway? What role do you play in the fellowship/unity/health

of Archway? (ex- sharing from the heart, holding others accountable in class, reaching out)

What role do you play in the toxicity/dysfunction of Archway? (ex- complaining, being sideways with kids from other groups, giving teachers attitude)

What gifts can you get from being a part of this?

WHY ARE WE HERE?

Student Council Mission

To provide opportunities within and outside of Archway to develop our individual gifts, share journeys, grow in our own recovery and encourage the recovery of others.

♥Leadership Team♥Accountability and Support♥Unity and Community♥Success (recovery and at school)♥Model the Way♥Inspire ♥Enable Others to Act♥Encourage and Cheerlead

Most of what we DO and PLAN should revolve around: Accountability, Unity and Enthusiastic Recovery

ARCHWAY’S BIG COMMUNITY ISSUES(AS SEEN BY STUDENT LEADERSHIP)

Competition between APGs or RTCs Gossip “Group laziness”- “contagious laziness” Break-up drama Keeping secrets (it’s not my business to tell) Newcomers feeling lonely Low goals for life after Archway (fear

motivated)

STUDENT COUNCIL FOCUS

Solutions to Community Issues: Lead by example. Dream big…follow through on commitments. Reach out! (newcomers, lunch, pulling struggling

kids “in”) Hold self and peers accountable with LOVE! Keep a positive attitude and support the

teachers. Practice compassion…God doesn’t give you the

people you WANT, he gives you the people you NEED…to help you, to hurt you, to leave you, to love you and to make you the person you are meant to be.

QUOTE FOR THE YEAR!

Your beliefs don’t make you a

better person. Your behavior

does!

KEY QUESTIONS How do you envision this transforming your

community? How do you inspire students to get involved in

leadership? How do you inspire the admin/staff leadership to

get behind this? What are the roadblocks for getting this started

or taking it to the next level? Who are the key folks (staff and students) that

need to be on the ground floor? What are the key elements you’d like to see in

the beginning? What are three things you can commit to doing

before school starts to make this happen?
