An estimated 450,000 bed spaces in the sector 404,000 covered by three Codes of Standards:

– Two run by ANUK/Unipol– One run by UUK

Increasing financial pressure on institutions resulting in rapidly rising rents

Traditionally largely owned and run by institutions Now a more complex picture with private providers’

market share growing Recent fall in student numbers means that there is

now an oversupply in some areas However, as yet, there has been little competition

on price
