Everyone is buzzing about bees! Beekeeping is on the rise as swarms of people do their part to help nurture
local food systems, make gardens more productive, connect with nature, harvest their own honey, and rescue honey bee populations from a variety of challenges. Storey’s Guide to Keeping Honey Bees, the newest addition to the best-selling series, will be the single resource sought by beekeepers in all settings. With this book as their guide, bee-keepers will understand how to plan and maintain a healthy hive, acquire bees, install a colony, understand and prevent new diseases, and harvest honey crops.

Storey’s Guide to Raising Series — Essential Animal Husbandry Infomation from the Trusted Source
“The Storey’s Guide to Raising series is an excellent resource. We find these books to be comprehensive and easy to understand.” — Megan Hirt, Mother Earth News
“I love these guides – I have most of them. They are easy to read, very organized, well researched, and invaluable to my library.” — Kristy Worthington, Scales Mound, IL
There’s a reason readers refer to the Storey’s Guide to Raising books as their “bible.” Each book includes information on selection, housing, space require-ments, behavior, breeding and birthing techniques, feeding, health concerns, and remedies for illnesses. The books also cover the business of processing meat, milk, eggs, and other products.
For the many people who keep animals just for the love of it, SGTR books have always emphasized hu-mane treatment. For those whose animals produce food, and who want their farms to be profitable and sustainable, the books have always emphasized qual-ity, not quantity.
Our newly revised series speaks to a new generation of farmers, bringing these trusted titles into the 21st century with expanded information on:
• Grass-based systems• Humane handling• Heritage breeds• Organic certification • Marketing for the small farmer
