WILDCAT WORDS:
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We had a SUPER time last week celebrating Teacher
Appreciation and Career Week at Osceola. Thank you so
much for your support and kind gestures, we all
appreciated them. It was great seeing our students
thinking about their future aspirations. Military personnel,
doctors, and of course, teachers, were just a few of the
costumes students wore on career dress-up day. We also
want to thank our local business owners and public
service workers for coming out to talk about their careers
with our students.
The year is winding down but the learning is not. Our
SUPER teachers and staff continue to prepare wonderful
learning opportunities for the students. We still need your
child to be at school on time every day, and ready to learn.
Classroom celebrations, musical presentations, field day
events, pool parties, and the list goes on, are all
wonderful activities we want all of our students to
enjoy. These events are definitely going to happen
because our students continue to show their P.A.W.S. –
Personal Best, Act Responsibly, Work & Play Safely, and
Show Respect to all.
Respectfully Yours,
Faye R. Jenkins

Night of the Arts and PTO Ice Cream Social
It is that time of year again to show off the talents of our Osceola students! This year we are combining the Music program with the Art program for the Night of the Arts and PTO Ice Cream Social. This evening is a fun-filled event that displays the beautiful artwork of each student and also the musical talents of our Osceola Wildcats. Every student’s artwork will proudly be displayed in our hallways. As I mount each child’s artwork, and see their talent, I realize how important artistic expression is for our students. As the halls get filled with close to 650 works of art, it warms my heart to see our students stop and look at all the creativity. I see them discussing student’s art and using the correct vocabulary to make an informed observation. This is the goal of all teachers- teach, enrich, and have our students’ learn. The music performance will include the Osceola Elementary Chorus, Orff Ensemble, Guitar Class, Violin Class, and select students from grades 2 – 5. The students will perform music that ranges from Broadway to the blues. Come and have an enjoyable evening of music as our students share their musical talent. Along with the art show and music performance, our very own PTO will have ice cream as a special treat. Yum! This is a perfect ending to a wonderful evening. So mark your calendars for the spectacular “Night of the Arts and PTO Ice Cream Social."
When: Thursday, May 14st. Where: Osceola Elementary School Time: Art Show: 5:30-6:30 pm
Music Performance: 6:30-7:15 pm Ice Cream Social: 7:15-8:00 pm
This event is the highlight of the year for all our students at Osceola. It is a good time for all, so please try your best to come and enjoy your child's talent.

GUIDANCE CORNER College & Career Week:
Last week we celebrated college & career week with many activities and guest speakers. We want to thank our career speakers who volunteered their time to educate and inspire our students. We also want to give thanks to the seniors from St. Joes who spoke with our 5th graders about the leap from high school to college. Child Safety:
Internet safety is becoming an ever increasing concern as our children spend more time on-line. Do you know what they are playing, watching, seeing and who they are in contact with? NetSmartskids.org is a program of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children whose purpose is to keep kids
safe. The site contains engaging games and presentations for kids about internet safety as well and as educational links for parents and educators on how to keep our kids safe. Our 3rd-5th graders will view a video presentation on abuse prevention during the month of May. This district approved presentation entitled “Yes You Can say No” teaches the safety and assertiveness skills necessary to stand up for oneself and avoid possible abusive situations. Ms. Harrison, counselor will present. Parents are welcome to preview the video or call Ms. Harrison at 547-3787 for more information. Character Kid Breakfast:
We will be having a Character Kid Breakfast on Thursday, May 14 at 9:00 am for those students who were chosen as the Character Kid representative for their class this year. Clothing Closet:
