• Slavni srpski vojvoda • Istaknuti komandant u balkanskim i u Prvom
svetskom ratu• Rođen je u Kumodražu kod Beograda 02.
marta 1856.• Umro je u Čačku 29. aprila 1929.• Završio je artiljerijsku školu u Beogradu

VOJNA KARIJERA
• U srpsko-turskim ratovima (1876-1878) odlikovan je Takovskim krstom sa mačevima
• Bio je profesor istorije na Vojnoj akademiji u Beogradu
• U generalštabu započinje karijeru 1889.
• Ubrzo postaje pomoćnik načelnika glavnog generalštaba
• 1907. dobija čin generala• 1908. i 1911-1912. bio je
ministar vojske

KUMANOVSKA BITKA• Komandovao je Drugom
armijom• U Kumanovskoj bici
(oktobar 1912.) sadejstvovao je na levom krilu
• Pomogao je bugarskoj vojsci pri zauzimanju Jedrena (mart 1913.)
• Štitio je dolinu Nišave od upada Bugara 1913.

svetskog rata sproveo je mobilizaciju vojske umesto Radomira Putnika, načelnika štaba Vrhovne komande
• U Cerskoj bici (15-24.avgust 1914.) pobedio je austrougarsku 5. armiju
• Zbog te pobede dobio je čin vojvode

GOLGOTA• 1915. usporio je bugarsku Prvu armiju kod Leskovca i tako olakšao povlačenje srpske vojske preko Albanije
• Zatim se preko Peći, Podgorice i Skadra prebacio na Krf

SOLUNSKOG FRONTA• Srpska Druga armija
Stepe Stepanovića razbila je neprijateljski front na Dobrom polju i Kozjaku
• Doprinela je kapitulaciji bugarske vojske
• Novembra 1918. sa svojom armijom prešao je Drinu i oslobodio Sarajevo

STAROST I SMRT
• Posle Prvog svetskog rata otišao je u penziju 1919.
• Živeo je skromno i povučeno u Čačku
• Nije želeo da se pojavljuje na najvećim državnim svečanostima
• Umro je u Čačku 29. aprila 1929. gde je i sahranjen
