State FAFSA System
• If Dream Act and/or DACA students eligible for state financial aid:• OHE must develop state online FAFSA, since
students won’t have SSNs for federal FAFSA• Currently in discussions with California to purchase
their state FAFSA system• OHE will need to award State Grants centrally for
these students• Document Dream Act and/or DACA status• Verification• Some eligibility screening, including selective service• Awarding (once school certifies enrollment level)• Disbursing funds to campuses
20
SG Online Questionnaire

State Award Recalculation Policy Change
• Effective 2013-2014, no recalculations required for student who has begun attendance in all classes• School can have policy to recalculate awards based on
change in enrollment level during term• Must set date after which awards will not be recalculated or
partial withdrawal refunds performed• e.g., drop/add deadline, drop/add deadline for last course in
sequential course module• Policy must be applied consistently to all students in program• Must be applied for both increases/decreases in enrollment
• If school has policy not to recalculate:• Students who add credits won’t see award increases
