Though, actually, Hubble used Globular Clusters as a standard to help prove that Andromeda was a
Galaxy far far away

• Smaller than Galaxies!!! Found in galaxies!• Globular Clusters – a group of stars:
– Like a globe – 100,000 to Millions of Stars– Orbit the galaxy, forming a Halo
• Open Clusters – a group of stars:
– No specific shape – tens of stars to thousands of stars
– Can be found anywhere in the galaxy – formed in the same location
