These essential TEKS should be taught on an ongoing basis throughout each nine weeks. This is essential to a student’s preparation for college and career.

• Use the text’s structure or progression of ideas such as cause and effect or chronology to locate and recall information

• Determine a text’s main idea and how those ideas are supported with details

• Draw inferences such as conclusions or generalizations and support them with text evidence

• Support responses by referring to relevant aspects of text

• Analyze characters, including their traits, motivations, conflicts, point of view, relationships, and changes they undergo

• Draw on experiences to bring meanings to words in context such as interpreting multiple-meaning words and analogies

Possible Improvement – To continue to improve student’s college and career readiness, the district will need to continually improve its curriculum.

For continual improvement, curriculum writers in Clear Creek ISD will need to routinely evaluate the curriculum to meet the needs of all of our students.

The three curriculum standards are very similar and meet the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills. Furthermore, Clear Creek ISD’s 8th grade ELA curriculum meets the standard’s set by all three curriculum standards .
