New signage went up in the library outside the direc-
tor’s office. Now anyone who enters the library can readily
familiarize themselves with the college’s philosophy, includ-
ing its campus statement, mission statement, vision statement,
and core values. And it serves as a reminder to the campus
community as a whole what Stevens College is about.
Tommy is in his first year of the Architec-
tural Technology program at Stevens. Although he is
currently a commuter, next year he is planning to
live on campus.
Tommy graduated from McCaskey High
School in Lancaster; his interest in architecture was
sparked when he took a CAD class in high school.
He also played tennis for four years at McCaskey
and loved it. In middle school, he was a member of
the track team.
Tommy has two brothers and two sisters, all
of whom are younger than he is; his brother, Bran-
don, is in the Architectural Technology program at
Stevens, too.
When Tommy’s not studying, he likes to
read, play video games, and hang out with his
friends.

Focus on the Archives
When everyone on the library staff
except Director Sharon McIlhenney decided
to take off work the week of spring break, the
student workers stepped up to keep the library
running smoothly. One of their special pro-
jects during the week was to sort through ma-
terials in the Archives and to organize the
rooms where these materials have been stored.
The organizational process has been ongoing
the past several years; bookshelves were ac-
quired from the warehouse and shelving was
recently bought to accommodate items. Now,
thanks to the student workers’ efforts, signifi-
cant progress has been made in this project.
Student workers Ryan Hale, DeSean Curry, and Travis Majors pose in
the archives with some artifacts found during spring break project:
bottles of sparkling cider from the college’s 200th Anniversary in 2005.

Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology’s Spring Open House was held on April 16, 2016. Library Director Sharon McIlhenney staffed a library information table at the MAC while Brenda
Smith welcomed visitors to the library. Approximately 680 visitors were on campus for this event.

scifi/fantasy.
It works by choosing films that are highly rat-
ed by both viewers and critics yet didn’t make a huge
splash at the box office. Then the website’s independ-
ent staff handpicks titles for your viewing pleasure.
Creating an account allows you to dismiss
movie suggestions, save favorites, or rate what you’ve
seen.
A helpful feature of the site is that once
your choice is made, it will reroute you to
the most convenient on-demand provider
such as Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon. Alt-
hough, it’s worth noting that if you don’t
want to pay for your movie, you can find
many titles at your public library. Addition-
ally, the Learning Resources Center has
over 1,550 DVDs in its collection so
there is a very good possibility you may
find your next movie right here on cam-
pus.
The website, A Good Movie to Watch, wants
to help its users who are looking for a good movie to
watch but don’t have a specific title in mind. How
much time have you spent scrolling through the end-
less possibilities of your on-line provider? This web-
site’s mission is to save you time and effort while
spotlighting amazing films that you may have missed
but deserve your consideration.
One option for choosing your next
film is by mood. Are you in the mood for
something twisted? Then recommendations
include Let the Right One In (2008) and I
Saw the Devil (2010). Choose romantic as
your mood and your options include The
Spectacular Now (2013), Enough Said
(2013), and About Time (2013).
As an alternative to determining
your movie by mood, you can pick by
genre: action, comedy, documentary, dra-
ma, family, horror, mystery, romance and
