Second Sunday of Lent:
In the Gospel Jesus is
transfigured and a voice
from heaven said, “This is
my beloved Son, with whom I am well
pleased: Listen to him.”
We are thankful to all of you who have
listened to Jesus when he asks us to take
care of our brothers and sisters who are
suffering.
Everyone who has donated directly to us
over the last year should have gotten a
note from us to use on taxes. If you have
not, please leave us a note at the Parish
office. Please note, if you donated to us
using the envelope included with your
normal Sunday Envelopes, the donation
will show up with the rest of your parish
Contributions.

Jesse Manibusan is a singer, songwriter, guitarist and teller of humorous
tales. Well recognized throughout the country as a dynamic, eclectic speaker and
musician, Jesse shares from his heart the love of Christ and the call to live out our
baptism in every aspect of life. His first solo collection, Life You’re Living,
contains the popular “Open My Eyes,” that has been translated into several
languages. In 2012, he collaborated with Santiago Fernández on a bilingual
collection entitled Unidos and his songwriting skills can also be found on a great
number of albums from other wellknown Catholic artists. His desire to compose
music that can motivate the people of God to grow in compassion, mercy, integrity
and courage is evident in all his music. Jesse is a familiar presence at diocesan
conferences throughout the U.S. and Canada, including the Los Angeles Religious
Education Congress, the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC), World
Youth Day events, LIFE TEEN events and many others. He also conducts parish
missions and retreats through his Two by Two Ministries and often copresents
retreats and youth liturgy workshops with fellow OCP composer Ken Canedo. Jesse
holds a master’s degree in multicultural ministries from the Franciscan School of
Theology in Berkeley, California. He and his wife have three grown children and
currently reside in Pacifica, California.

NOTES FROM PAUL
In this weekends second
reading, St Paul tells
Timothy that God
"called us to a holy life,
not according to our
works, but according to his own
design." This lent, while you are
giving up chocolate or NetFlix, and
trying to remember to order fish
instead of a steak on Friday, don't
loose sight of the fact that God has
called you for something special.
Lent isn't really about the burden of
giving things up, it is about helping
us to find that "thing", that holy life.
God cares about you; cares about
you so much that he sent his only
Son to die on the cross for our
salvation. He created you to be with
him for eternity. I hope this lent
Transfigures you, and helps you
grow in relationship with God.
Thank you for the overwhelming
support for both the Sister Parish
Program, and the Cereal/Peanut
Butter Collection so far. It has only
been a week, but it has been great to
see everyone's generosity.

Greetings and Salutations,
Saint Casimir (1458-1484)
Prince Casimir, from Poland, as a young man he refused to
fight against other Christian nations and to marry emperor
Fredrick the III’s daughter. He remained single and
Casimir ran the country when his father, the King, had to
be away. He worked hard for justice and took care of the
poor. He died of lung problems at a very young age of 26
and was/is buried in Vilna, Lithuania.
Reflection for young people…What can I do at home to
help my parents?
Reflection for Adults…What can I do outside of my home
to help others?
Just for fun…
I really wanted a camouflage shirt…. but I couldn’t find
one. Hee hee hee.
Why do bees have sticky hair? Because they use
honeycombs. LOL!
Have a great week everyone!
Lenten Blessings,
Sabrina Queen

Coronavirus Preparedness
Recommendations

In light of growing concerns about the
coronavirus and its effects on those who
have contracted the disease, the
Archdiocese of Detroit asks each of their
parishes to implement the following
precautionary measures to help prevent
the transmission of any virus:
For those who attend mass, we are
recommending congregations
suspend the practice of shaking
hands during the Sign of Peace or
elsewhere, and of holding hands
during the Our Father.
 We recommend emptying (and
cleaning) all holy water fonts.
 We recommend our parishes suspend
offering parishioners the Cup of the
Most Precious Blood during Holy
Eucharist, out of an abundance of
caution. The Consecrated Host is the
full Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity
of Christ, meaning an individual
does not need to receive from the
Cup in order to achieve full
Communion with Christ.

her helpers for the beautiful décor.
