is saving me? Do I understand the gift I have been given? How am I willing to respond? Each of these elements can be cultivated in a single day. We have two weeks until Easter. Let us pray for each other and help each other to finish Lent well. You are in my prayers. Fr. Karl Pung
Pray for Ireland As we are making patient strides towards ending abor-tion in our country, those same ideals are under attack in other places. Ireland will be having a referendum in May which if approved by the people, would remove the prohibition on abortion. Please keep the country in your prayers that they will not head backward into the darkness of legalized abortion. Let us send our prayers to their country and its leaders that their minds might be opened to the light of the Gospel and the value of all life. Thank you Thank you to all of our volunteers who helped to clean our pews and furniture in the Church on Wednesday. The slow dulling of dirt is tough to notice until it has been wiped away with care and a little soap and polish. It looks much nicer. I love being able to work with people who enjoy being proud of their church building. (…and their parish.) This week we will be cleaning the carpets, and strip-ping and waxing the sanctuary. By Sunday, we should be in good shape for Holy Week. Wednesday Adoration There will be no Wednesday Adoration this week. We are undecided on Wednesday of Holy week. Check back here next week. Finishing Lent Well No matter how your Lent has gone so far, finishing Lent well is not only possible, but important. In gen-eral, I hold to the habit that how we end one thing in-fluences how we begin the next. If I end a day well, I tend to begin the next day well. If I end one thing with a bad attitude, etc, without some kind of intervention, I will tend to begin the next thing in a similar vein. End-ing Lent well, will help to begin the Easter Season on the right note with the right attitude. What does ending Lent well look like? The first ele-ment is to be without guilt. Go to Confession. Do not beat yourself up for your failures. Let go of venge-ance. Free your heart to move forward. The second is to have an attitude that it is not all about me. Am I looking to the needs of people other than myself? Do I live, act, and pray as if the universe revolves around the desires of God and not mine? Third is to have a sense of the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Do I know from what I have been saved? Do I know who
