Sri M. V. Subba Rao, Chairman-cum-Managing Director,

KIOCL Limited, informed that Rs.10.1 Crores has been

contributed to PM CARES Fund, which is in addition to One day

Salary of employees of the Company. He also informed that

Rs.15.00 Lakhs has been contributed to Karnataka CM Relief

Fund. Company has already started distributing Face-masks,

Sanitizers, hand-gloves, free food etc., to the needy people at

Bengaluru and Mangaluru areas.

KIOCL Limited, (a Govt. of India Enterprise), have undertaken precautionary

measures for containing Corona (COVID-19) outbreak, which is the epidemic

of 2019-20.

As a preventive measure to stop spreading of Corona-Virus, the existing Bio-metric Attendance Punching

System of all the Employees and Contract Labours has been temporarily suspended initially till

31.03.2020 at Pellet Plant and Blast Furnace Units, Panambur, Mangaluru.

Awareness Sessions were conducted for the Officers and Unions / Associations on COVID-19 at our

Resource Centre by Dr. Shafir Kassim, Assistant Professor in Department of Medicine, KMC Hospital,

Mangaluru and also a Member of COVID-19 Team of KMC Hospital

.

For creating awareness to the employees, Display Boards, highlighting the causes and prevention of Corona-19 Virus, were distributed to all Heads of Departments for fixing in the respective departments

For smooth function of Company Canteen services and in order to avoid crowd / long queue of employees at Canteen premises, during Lunch, Break-fast, evening snack/coffee, tea etc. the timings have been suitably modified to facilitate the employees to avail canteen services comfortably.

The entry of all Representatives/Suppliers/Vendors etc., inside the Pellet Plant and Blast Furnace Unit of KIOCL Ltd., has been temporarily stopped until further Orders. However, during urgency and/or in unavoidable cases, they will be allowed inside the Plant premises, with the approval of Jt. General Managers/General Manager only.

On approval and after Thermal Screening only, the Outsiders are allowed inside the Plant. Medical Staff are being engaged near the Main Entrance Gate for Thermal Screening and for further assistance, if any,

required.

For creating awareness to all those who visit the Plant premises, Stickers/Posters, highlighting the causes and prevention of Corona Virus, have been fixed at all areas of Pellet Plant unit.

All the Canteen Staff were issued with Masks and advised to wear them regulary while cooking and serving food/snacks items to employees.

Big cut-outs with Awareness Quotes were placed/installed at the road-side, near the Panambur Highway/Pellet Plant Unit, Blast Furnace Unit and at Bondel-Kavoor road, near Township for creating awareness to the public. Sanitizers and liquid soap-wash bottles were fixed at various locations at the Plant for use of employees and Contract workers.

Awareness classes were conducted for all the CISF personnel and hand-bills on precautionary measures have been distributed to them.

The specimen and contents of the hand-bills are exhibited below;

Necessary Circular was issued, changing the working hours, to avoid the crowd of employees, during entry and exit, in General Shift at Pellet Plant Unit.

An Awareness programme for Contract workers was organised to create awareness on preventing the spreading of Corono Virus

Sanitizers were handed over to Dy.Chief Medical Officer of KIOCL Health Centre, Kavoor.

Thermal Screening is being done to all employees and contract workers and visitors by CISF at the Main gate, Pellet Plant Unit, Mangaluru.

A „Janatha Curfew‟ as per the appeal of our Prime Minister, was observed at our Pellet Plant Unit and on the same day at 5.00 PM, the CISF personnel, at their Office premises, clapped and applauded the selfless services of the doctors, nurses, Police personnel, Municipal workers etc. to the citizens to prevent the spread of this pandemic.

At the Pellet Plant Main Canteen, the employees are strictly following the guidelines as per the Ministry, with regard to maintaining distance between each other, during the time of availing Canteen facilities.

The Contract Workers are also abiding with the guideliness of Ministry, for maintaining social distance at the Pellet plant Canteen, during the time of availing Canteen facilities.

A big salute to our CISF personnel who have taken up cleaning and disinfectation works at the Plant premises, in the absence of Contract Workers, due to lockdwon. Apart from safe-gaurding our Plant

premises they are also extending security services at KIOCL township at Kavoor, to implement preventive measures against spreading of Corona virus.

As a gesture of goodwill, KIOCL commenced providing of Canteen food items to the Police personnel who are on offficial duty nearby, due to lock down at Mangalore and also to MESCOM employees who are working at Sub- station Unit, near the main entrance of Pellet Plant Unit.

Necessary Circulars were issued to the employees, as per directives of Ministry as precautionary

measures to avoid any misconceptions among the masses.

Under CSR programme of the Company, KIOCL provided monthly grocery items to “Samvedhana”, a home for destitute orphan children at Mangalore, even during total lock-down. Necessary Masks were also distributed to them, while handing over the grocery items to them.

As a preventive measure, Special Leave has been granted to Trade Apprentices/Graduate Apprentices, who are undergoing Apprenticeship Course/Training in the Company, from 23.03.2020 till 14.04.2020, vide Circular dated 21.03.2020, as shown below;

Masks, Sanitizers being distributed to nearby residents, by CMD and Directors, at Corporate Office area, Koramgnala, Bengaluru.

At the KIOCL Township at Kavoor the disinfectant spray was sprinkled around the residential buildings,health centres, recreational clubs and shopping complexes.

NITK handed over hand sanitizers prepared at NITK, Suratkal to KIOCL, Mangalore for usage at its premises.

KIOCL sponsored grocery items and distributed to BPL card holders and the needy people around Mangalore areas.

KIOCL jointly with LIONS, Kudremukh distributed food grains to the poor contract workers deployed at the Kavoor KIOCL Township and at the Pellet Plant, Mangalore
