Square and Circle Thumbnails- Criteria & Objectives

• Students will use only five squares or rectangles with circles to illustrate an adjective.

• Students will use graphite or pen for the packet, and for the final students will pencil in their ideas then use ink to finish the composition.

1. Students will complete a five page packet which contains a total of 110 thumbnails and 36 adjectives. Four of these adjectives will be chosen by the artist.

2. Students will make four final take four of their best compositions on a sheet of 9x12 in. paper and it will follow a strict template.

• The objective of this lesson is to evoke any adjective using small thumbnail compositions of squares and circles.

• The secondary objective is to measure and create a border for an artwork.
