Chuck has been at Cisco for 17 years, having been a key sponsor for two major acquisitions, and leading a global sales force generating $47 billion a year.

So we guess he knows what he’s doing!

Security figures and lack of standardisation have slowed the adoption of SDN

This protected Cisco’s proprietary position which in turn enabled a strong, open-sourced position

Meanwhile, Cisco surfed expertly on the virtualised tidal wave, with a solid range of SDN compute solutions

But Cisco’s internal structure is complicated. Some parts of the business still come as a surprise to other parts.

This may seem like a disadvantage to some but really, its one more reason to value the company

Datacenters are the Achilles heel of several internet behemoths.

I think they secretly fear a much more important issue: data neutrality

They need copy after copy of your tasty, nutritious data so that apps of all kinds can digest it.

While in transit, your data is at risk. No wonder hackers circle internet data like sharks around sardines.

Cisco substantially owns the network infrastructure over which this painful process occurs.

Lucky for us, they are investing in software that makes networks much smarter.

Perhaps in the future we won’t need to have our data travel so far and copied so often. That could be good news for all of us.
