CUBA

Cuba was ruled by Spain and the Americans were mad because how Spain was treating Cuban people. They wanted the people of Cuba to have independence.

U.S.S MAINE

The U.S.S. Maine blew up by some kind bomb and they blamed it on Spain because they thought that Spain caused this mess.

TEDDY ROOSELVELT

Teddy Roosevelt was a brave soldier he was the captain of the U.S. army and he was a hero. He was the Secretary of the Navy under President McKinley. He got a group of soldiers, cowboys, and Buffalo soldiers to go Cuba and fight the Spanish soldiers there.

BUFFALO SOLDIERS

The Buffalo soldiers were black soldiers who had fought against Indians in the west during those wars and they were given the nickname by the Indians because they were good fighters. They went to Cuba with Roosevelt to fight and go against Spain.

THE ROUGH RIDERS

The Rough Riders were a group of cowboys, athletes and Indians who headed to Cuba to fight for the freedom of the Cuban people. They were led by Theodore Roosevelt.

THE U.S. GOT NEW LANDS FROM SPAIN WHEN THEY SIGNED A TREATY AFTER THE S-A WAR!

PUERTO RICO IS A U.S. TERRITORY TODAY. THE PEOPLE ARE U.S. CITIZENS.

CUBA GOT THEIR INDEPENDENCE WITH THE U.S. HELP. WE WOULD HELP PROTECT THEM WHILE THEY SET UP A GOVERNMENT IN THEIR NEW COUNTRY.

AFTER THE U.S. WON THE WAR WITH SPAIN, WE GOT SOME NEW LANDS IN THE WORLD.

THE PHILIPPINES: U.S KEPT UNTIL 1946

GUAM IS A U.S. TERRITORY TODAY.
