JOIC Contact Information
The Rancher BOSA is a monthly overview of drug, human smuggling and other criminal activity in south and west Texas. The purpose of this report is to inform ranch owners of emerging trend
and relevant incidents.
The Rancher Crime index is comprised of rancher input of criminal traffic patterns occurring outside of main highways and roadways, and across ranch properties.

Patrol checkpoints by easily walking around them
through ranch and farmland. Since 2009,
422 illegal aliens have perished in Brooks County.

DEL RIO SECTOR
On 13 JAN 2015, USBP Agents near a local ranch, responded to a
Drawbridge camera alert regarding narcotics smuggling. The Agents located
two IAs and a search of the area yielded two military style duffel bags
containing 115.46 lbs of marijuana. The IAs, marijuana, and a cell phone
were turned over to the DEA.
On 14 JAN 2015, USBP Agents observed six subjects who appeared to be
scouting a local ranch. Agents responded to the area, and all subjects
absconded back to MX. A search of the area resulted in the seizure of six
bricks of abandoned marijuana, with a total weight of 135 lbs.
The marijuana was turned over to the DPS.
On 06 JAN 2015, USBP Agents detained 25 IAs in a field on a local ranch, near Lake Amistad. Two of
the IAs were also identified as the alien smugglers. The alien smugglers were turned over to
HSI-ICE Agents, and the remaining IAs were processed.
DEL RIO SECTOR
On 16 JAN 2015, a USBP Agents, assisted by Maverick Co, responded to a call from a citizen regarding
narcotics being loaded into a gray 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup. The Agent observed the vehicle
traveling on US-277 and conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, when a pursuit ensued.
The vehicle came to a stop, after it crashed into a fence. The Deputies discovered two duffel bags
containing a total of 97.6 lbs of marijuana in the back seat. Maverick Co SO took custody
of the marijuana and the driver.
On 18 JAN 2015, USBP Agents responded to activity near a local ranch. The Agents searched
the area and located six bundles wrapped in brown cellophane tape, containing
340.7 lbs of marijuana. During a subsequent search of the same area, Agents found a seventh
bundle, containing 55.5 lbs of marijuana. The marijuana was turned over to a DEA.
On 18 JAN 2015, USBP Agents conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 silver Dodge Ram pickup on SH-
163. The driver failed to yield, ran off the highway, and crashed through a fence near a local ranch.
The driver bailed out and absconded, but was later apprehended. The passenger was apprehended
and both subjects were identified as IAs. The Agents searched the vehicle and found a small
amount of crystal methamphetamine in the glove compartment. The two IAs were processed.
DEL RIO SECTOR

. On 05 JAN 2014, a Kinney Co SO Deputy assisted USBP Agents in the apprehension of nine IAs
on a local ranch. The nine IAs were processed.
On 17 JAN 2015, Maverick Co SO Deputies assisted USBP Agents on a local ranch regarding human
remains, spotted on the property by a ranch helicopter pilot. An autopsy was ordered and
no further information is available at this time.
On 24 JAN 2015, a Dimmit Co SO Deputy conducted a traffic stop on white
2007 Chevrolet Silverado K2500 pickup, north of Carrizo Springs, TX. The
vehicle failed to yield, and a pursuit ensued. The vehicle drove through a
fence on CR-1542, where two subjects bailed out and absconded.
The vehicle was not reported stolen at the time of incident.
RIO GRANDE VALLEY
La Joya PD Officer responded to a call from a concerned citizen, in reference to a silver Chrysler
300 being loaded with bundles of narcotics and traveling on US-83. The Officer conducted a traffic
stop, when a pursuit ensued. The vehicle was found abandoned in a brushy area and both
subjects bailed out of the vehicle. The female driver was located and arrested.
A total of 137.80 lbs of marijuana was seized from the vehicle.
DPS AVN responded to assist a rancher, after the rancher reported to
having seen 15 IAs walking on his property. The Aircrew spotted the
group attempting to hide in the brush. As a result of the search,
13 IAs were taken into custody.
Brooks Co SO reported two deceased persons and one human skeletal remains
found on private property.

Kenedy Co SO Deputies responded to a call to a pasture on a local ranch
property, in reference to two dead bodies. One of the individuals was
identified. The second subject had a tattoo on his upper right arm. GRAPHIC
LAREDO SECTOR On 08 JAN 2015, USBP Hebbronville Agents seized 22.30 lbs of abandoned marijuana on
a local lease, east of Hebbronville, TX.
On 10 JAN 2015, USBP Zapata Agents conducted a
stop on a white 2002 Ford F-150 pickup. A pursuit
ensued, resulting in a bailout on a local ranch in San
Ygnacio, TX. Agents located the abandoned vehicle
and discovered 513.01 lbs of marijuana, concealed
throughout the cab and bed.
On 15 JAN 2015, USBP Laredo North Agents conducted a vehicle stop on a white 2010 Ford
F-150 pickup, when a pursuit ensued. The vehicle drove through a ranch fence, and driver bailed
out of the vehicle. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Austin, TX.
On 14 JAN 2015, USBP

407.30 lbs of abandoned
marijuana. No arrests.
On 23 JAN 2015, USBP Zapata Agents conducted
a stop on a white 2006 Ford F-150 pickup near a
local ranch. The driver bailed out and absconded.
Agents discovered 618.3 lbs of abandoned
marijuana concealed throughout the vehicle.
On 27 JAN 2015, USBP Freer Agents discovered
382.6 lbs of abandoned marijuana on a local
ranch, south of Freer, TX.
LAREDO SECTOR
On 16 JAN 2015, USBP Laredo
North Agents at a local ranch
near Laredo, TX, observed
eight subjects crossing the river
with bundles of marijuana.
Agents apprehended two IAs
and seized 240.70 lbs of
marijuana. The other subjects
absconded into MX.
On 21 JAN 2015, USBP Cotulla
Agents conducted a traffic stop on
a white 2009 Ford F-250 pickup.
A pursuit ensued, resulting in a
bailout on a local ranch. The
abandoned vehicle was discovered
to have been stolen out of San
Antonio, TX.
On 24 JAN 2015, USBP Laredo North Agents seized 393.86 lbs of marijuana and arrested three IAs
on a local ranch. Three other subjects absconded.
