Austin Skyline (looking north on South Congress)

Capitol Laundry on Barton Springs Road

Any info on this club?

East Avenue (later became IH-35) - Brackenridge is in center of photo.

East Avenue (pre IH-35) in December 1959. The Bickler Bldg. is on the right.

IH-35 just south of Riverside Drive (where’s the traffic?)

The way KFC restaurants used to look.

Still in the same location

Sinclair Station at Lamar and Barton Springs

South Lamar

Superior Dairies at 1st & Red River

Joey’s Fine Foods (Ben White near Gillis) Was originally Spell’s Drive-in, built by Delma Spell in his back yard. Billy Jack Mason’s Enco station next door.

Skating Palace and Armadillo on Barton Springs Rd.

Ben White looking west from Southwood Mall parking lot

3-wheeled Harley Davidson police motorcycles (1970s)

One of South Austin’s favorite restaurants.

Robert Mueller Airport

Robert Mueller Airport (the way we used to greet incoming passengers)

Ben White looking east from Bannister Lane. The grove of trees is now South Austin Hospital.

Kiddieland Park on Barton Springs Road

This park had more rides, but I remember the park on South Lamar had

a wonderful carousel.

This ad is circa 1934

I had forgotten there was cork in the metal bottle tops.

Of course, I never went there—only heard about it....

Hotel Gondolier - Riverside and IH-35. This was quite the place when it opened. That Austin skyline certainly looks different now.

Congress at Oltorf – spent a lot of time in this shopping center

Congress Avenue in downtown Austin

Adams Extract (south IH-35)

How many Frat boys risked life and limb trying to steal this bug?
