Title the square with “Exploration”Answer the following question using as
much detail as possible: Explain how space tools help to contribute to space exploration
What are the differences between a solar system, galaxy, and universe?
Solar System, Galaxy, Universe
SPACE consists of many bodies, such as planets, moons, stars, meteors, comets, and asteroids.
Astronomers have organized SPACE into 3 groups.
SOLAR SYSTEM
A collection of planets that orbit around a star, along with asteroids, meteoroids, and comets
The planets may contain multiple moons that orbit them
GALAXY
A huge group of stars, solar systems, dust, and gas held together by gravity
GALAXY
There are 3 types of galaxies:
- Spiral (spiral outwards and spin)
- Elliptical (shaped like flat disk)
- Irregular (smaller and do not have a shape)
Spiral Galaxy
Elliptical Galaxy
Irregular Galaxy
Our galaxy is called the Milky Way and is spiral shaped
UNIVERSE
Can be defined as all of space and everything inside of it
Note Review
Highlight the 3 major terms: solar system, galaxy, and universe
With your blue utensil, chunk your notes With your green utensil, underline the definitions of
