Who dunnit ??

Often Historians work in a similar way to real life murder detectives in order to piece together evidence and work out what happened.

Today we need your help to solve a murder mystery !

You are a police detective (CSI) called in to investigate the crime scene after a neighbour made 000 call and reported seeing broken glass on the front lawn.

It’s tough on the streets, be careful out there!

The crime scene

What questions spring to mind?

Write them down.

What help do the following items provide?

a) The broken windowb) The footprintc) The empty wine glassesd) The unopened handbage) The camera

Time span/chronology:

What evidence could help us to accurately assess the time of death?

Now write down a paragraph detailing what you think happened – this will be your report back to

headquarters.

Summary (Copy the following)History is like being a detective, you need

to piece together evidence.

See more than one perspective or view.

Try to draw conclusions and decide what actually occurred.

Seek out and research extra material to help you solve what happened.

There are a number of CSI type investigations on the link below.

Use the skills we have discussed in class today and apply them in a different situation.

Enjoy the rest of your day and see you next

week!!
