Lullaby: Sonic Cradle

SOCIAL STORY

Relaxed Performance

Friday 4th of October at 10:00am

Riverside Theatre Stage

You are going to see a live performance of Lullaby: Sonic Cradle at Riverside Theatres in Parramatta.

There are signs out the front saying ‘Riverside’.

At Riverside there is a festival called ‘Spot On’. This festival offers many different shows to go and see.

There are sliding doors going into the foyer.

This is where you wait with your family or friends until the theatre doors open and performance starts.

While you are waiting, you might need to go to the toilet. At the theatre, bathrooms have signs, “male” for boys and men and “female” for girls and

women. There is also a bathroom for people who use a wheelchair or are less mobile.

There will also be many activities in the courtyard for you to do while you wait for the show to start.

You can play too – but you don’t have to if you don’t want to.

You will need a ticket to see your show. If you do not have a ticket, check with your parents or carer if they have them already. If not, when you arrive, Box

Office will be the place to get your ticket.

The show you are seeing is on in the Riverside Theatre. There is a sign out the front of the Riverside Theatre with a number 4.

To enter Riverside Theatre for this show you will go through ‘Door 3’ and ‘Door 4’. They have big numbers to tell you which door is which.

Or, if you use a wheelchair you can get to the stage through the courtyard and the backstage corridor

An usher will check your tickets and another usher will show you where to sit.

For this show, when you are in the theatre there are stairs leading onto the stage. The ushers will point out the stairs for you to go up.

On the stage inside the theatre, there will be chairs, cushions, beanbags and mattresses arranged in a semi-circle for you to sit or lie down on.

When the show starts the lights will turn down a little bit, but it will not go too dark so don’t worry. This will be time to be quiet and listen.

There are three musicians playing lullabies.

Supriya who sings the lullabies, Rafael who plays the saxophone, and Duncan who plays recorded sounds from a computer.

Duncan projects patterns onto the floor and walls to accompany the music.

The sounds you will hear include chirping cicadas, wind in trees, light rain, and rolling waves on a beach. They are low noise level and meant to be soothing.

When the show ends, people will clap their hands.

This is to thank the performers. You can clap too if you want to, or if it is too loud you can put your hands over your ears.

When the performance is finished, you will leave the theatre.

When it is time to go home, you will leave through the sliding doors again.

It is great fun to go to the theatre!

Near Riverside Theatres, there is the river to walk or sit beside.

Prince Alfred Park is across the road from Riverside Theatres.
