- 2. About Snowball The Screenplay Snowball the screenplay is
inspired by Jason Collins the NBA center who, on April 29, 2013
became the first active male professional athlete in a major North
American team sport to come out publicly as gay. Collins was in an
eight-year relationship with former WNBA center Carolyn Moos, and
the two were engaged to be married, but Collins called off the
wedding in 2009
- 3. Snowball follows the life of Jake Bradley as the dyslexic
star point guard for the undefeated Westside Academy. His life
revolves around the basketball court and the court becomes a
metaphor for life. A best friend who is coming out and experiencing
a free fall into the world of drug addiction, a mother who turns
tricks to pay his private school fees, a homophobic coach and an
unhealthy dose of racism all of these begin to encroach on his
dream of becoming a basketball star. About Snowball Film
- 4. Who Writes Snowball? Chris Spence writes Snowball.
Christopher M. Spence holds a doctorate in education from the
Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, lectures at York
University and Humber College, and is the principal at Lawrence
Heights Middle School in Toronto. In 1992 Chris formed CMS
Productions with the intention of developing educational resources
that reflected the needs and utilized the talents of visible
minorities.
