Migration means (according to Websters dictionary) :

1. To move from one country, place, or locality to another.

2. To pass usually periodically from one region or climate to another for feeding or breeding.

Increased Environmental Decay and population. Overpopulation. Increased crime and safety issues. Resources struggling to cope. Depopulation of rural areas.

The Local Problem…

Less job opportunities for international work in big corporations.

Creating less places to live in the international world hotspots.

Many organization fight to minimize migration, There is no dominant way to reduce migration but

there are many.

With low income, many Chinese migrants are forced to live in poor conditions.

As Migrants are forced to move from city to city, job to job, they can only carry a bag of belongings. Leaving the rest of their things in their home town.

We chose this topic because…

We live in Shanghai, China. Shanghai is a major city in China which many Anhui women migrate to, causing many problems.

When overpopulation occurs it has a big affect on jobs thus making it hard for the poor migrant workers to strive.

The amazing migration statistics can be found here

For two other interesting movies about migration just got too:

Unable to afford any other type of transportation, most migrants either walk to work or ride second hand bikes.

Migrant Transportation…

Today over 100 million people in china are migrants.

70 million left their towns to short or long term jobs in country towns or bigger urban areas.

Even though migrant schools may provide a better education for the children of migrants, constantly moving from city to city can cause other problems. One example of this school is Li Ming school nearby SAS.

More than 32,000,000 rural people who come out of their provinces to gain off-farm jobs in urban areas including big cities.

The number of rural laborers who got into TVEs from farming increased from 30 million in 1980 to 92.6 million in 1995.

1.2 billion population, there are more than 71.4 per cent who are living in rural areas (where it is hard to find good paying jobs).

There are several organizations working on this issue like the…

IOM International Organization of Migration ILO- International Labor Organization

Support social justice, Recognizes human rights and labor rights, The ILO continues to follow their original mission.

Their original mission is that labor peace is essential to prosperity,

Now the ILO helps make jobs with decent wages.

Organized, Care about their topics greatly, One downside to their program is that they only

meet once a year to discuss these very important topics.

Get into groups of three. Get a pencil or pen and a recycle A4 sheet of

paper. Fold the paper in half, hot dog style. Now have a writing surface to write on.

Our aim what to achieve in the future is:

To raise awareness of migration.

To try to make people stay or even move back to rural areas to create more business/job opportunities.

People should be informed to see migration as a progressing problem because it is a issue that is happening worldwide.

By understanding this topic, people will be encouraged and motivated to start businesses in rural cities to build up the economy.

If we are all educated about migration and the problems it causes, then we all can

work towards lessening this problem.

1. To raise money to buy school supplies and clothes for migrants and their children through roots and shoots. This will help migrants with money troubles towards education and may lessen the factor of migration.

2. To raise awareness about migration and how over migration causes overpopulation in urban cities.

To give money to this organization that provides supplies for the kids of the migrating women that don’t have a lot of money.

By doing this they can go to school and have clothes, which in turn can provide for higher quality jobs.

Action hasn’t been modified but we added a guessing game to raise money.

All of action plan is going the right direction, although we are working on adding more interactive and fun, yet educational fundraising techniques.

If nothing happens, then migration hotspots get overpopulated and the jobs are taken by everyone.

This causes bad side effects for big companies.

Act because:

You are creating a more stable and stronger future for the next generation,

Acting now will have better effects later, This issue may affect you if you don’t do

something now.

“Every morning in Africa a gazelle wakes up.It knows it must run faster than the fastest

lion or it will be killed.Every morning a lion wakes up.

It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it

will starve to death. It doesn’t matter whether you are a lion

or a gazelle:When the sun comes up, you’d better be

running.”
