She enjoyed what girls do theses days.

She also enjoyed reading.

Her favorite book was Alice In Wonderland.

Gertrude enjoyed visiting her grandparents’ farm on Sundays after church.

Her family enjoyed music very much.

Her family had an orchestra of their own.

Due to ill health she had to leave high school early.

After she was not going to school she studied with a tutor.

Male teachers were asked to join, World War 1 in 1918.

Because she was a Sunday School teacher she was asked to come teach first grade in grade school.

She then exceped the offer and stayed in one classroom for a full 32 years.
