4 Wyndham Significant Tree Register | July 2018
Many trees within Wyndham contain significant scientific, social, historic and amenity attributes. It is the purpose of this register to provide a framework where significant trees within the municipality can be identified, assessed and afforded appropriate protection.
In the first instance, Wyndham City Council aims to identify and protect trees of significance located on land owned or managed by Council, within the public realm. This register contains an individual Statement of Tree Significance for each significant tree feature, which will ultimately support an amendment to the planning scheme. Once planning controls are implemented, a permit will be required to remove or carry out major works on any tree listed within this register.
This register is intended to be a continually evolving entity. The register will be updated to include additional significant tree features, and to remove those that no longer exist within the landscape.
As outlined in the City Forest and Habitat Strategy, once the initial public realm process is established Council will review options for including trees within the private realm.

9Wyndham Significant Tree Register | July 2018
A total of eighty-eight (88) tree nominations were assessed for inclusion in the City of Wyndham’s initial Significant Tree Register. Of the nominations, forty (40) trees were recognised as containing scientific, social, historic and/or aesthetic significance. The significant tree features included a combination of naturally occurring species, along with Australian native and exotic specimens.
The statements of tree significance contained within this document will support an amendment to the planning scheme to afford these tree features protections under the planning scheme. This register is intended to be a continually evolving entity. The register will be updated to include additional significant tree features, and to remove those that no longer exist within the landscape.
