• Works in the digestive system• Filling -- discourage overeating• Types – soluble and insoluble
– Soluble > lets out bad cholesterol – Insoluble > aids with digestion
• High fibre foods prevent gut cancer• Found in peas, berries, wheat, oats, etc…
Carbohydrates
• Breaks down to be used in muscles and cells• Main source of energy (calories)• Two Types
– Complex > Starches– Simple > Sugars
• 4 cals/g• Found in pasta, wheat, bread, dairy …
Protein
• Helps repair and build body tissues• Fights infection and sickness• Types – incomplete & complete
– Incomplete > do not have all the acids– Complete > have amino all acids
• 70% is from animal products• 75 to 94 grams each day• Too much can be stored as fat• Found in meats, vegetables, wheat, etc…

• Helps brain and nervous systems work• Keeps skin healthy• Stores Energy• Types - Trans, Saturated, and Unsaturated
