As a Partner and Managing Director of VTBS Architects, Steve oversees theday-to-day operations of the Denver office. With over 30 years of experience in allphases of Architectural practice, over 20 of his projects have received local, nationalor international awards, including AIA Urban design of the year, AIA Gold Medal,Interiors Magazine Design of the Year, AIA Honors Award and the Building ofAmerica Gold Medal. He has published several articles about design of Seniors andMulti-family housing, and has had his projects published in over 30 books andperiodicals around the world. In addition to his work around the U.S., he hasdesigned award winning projects in Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Singapore,Indonesia, Italy, Turkey, Germany and Sweden. His primary goal is to providemeaningful design solutions that effectively respond to the needs of his clients, whilerespecting the balance of the community and environment they are located in. Leonard Segel has been active in the design of residential architecture for over 30years. His work has spanned from high rise condo towers in New York City to resortsin the Rockies. He is a leader in the Hord, Coplan, Macht, seniors’ housing studio inDenver, Colorado. He provides design direction on many projects in that office. Len has been active on the Colorado Leading Age conference planning committee. He has presented at American Institute of Architects conferences and assisted at thenational United States Green Building Council convention. The Urban Land Instituteis another activity of his. He also has been a member of Board of Directors of theMuseum of Boulder for the past 3 years. Len recently remodeled his home in Boulderto accommodate the senior’s lifestyle of his elderly mother. He is walking the talk.

Let’s make it happen has always been John’s approach to architecture. His can doattitude combined with over 40 years of experience in the building industry hasresulted in a multitude of success stories for clients, communities, and the team heleads. Not only has John crafted several projects into award-winning communities, healso designed the first LEED certified apartment building in the U.S., and the firstLEED Platinum certified market-rate apartment community in Colorado.John frequently speaks on a local and national-level regarding sustainability anddesign, as well as his passion for creating alternative senior living solutions. Histechnical skill, leadership ability and hands on technique from design throughconstruction make for happy clients and well conceived buildings. John is a licensedarchitect and serves on the ULI Colorado Executive Board and is the Co-Chair of theULI Colorado Explorer Committee.

Drawing on 16 years of design experience in both the public and private sectors,Angela has worked on varied project types making her a valuable resource andleader on OZ Architecture’s senior living team. Angela diligently manages numerousprojects through the programming and design process and from initial conceptionthrough completed documentation and construction. She’s well versed in thedistinctive needs of independent living, assisted living, and memory care spaces andcurates the nuances needed for the best quality of life for aging adults. Whileproficient in all facets of design, she gets enthralled when digging into the weeds ofa detail, encumbered by a code issue, or confronted with a CA puzzle.
