Call to WorshipLeader:

“God, for whom and through whom everything was made, chose to bring many children into glory. And it was only right that He should make Jesus, through His suffering, a perfect leader, fit to bring them into their salvation.

Congregation:

So now Jesus and the ones He makes holy have the same Father. That is why Jesus is not ashamed to call us His brothers and sisters. – Hebrews 2:10-11 (NLT)

How Great Thou ArtO Lord my God when I in awesome wonder

Consider all the works Thy hands have made

I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder

Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

When through the woods and forest glades I wander and hear the birds sing sweetly

in the trees.

When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur

And hear the brook and feel the gentle breeze.

Then sings my soul, “My Savior, God,” to Thee,

“How great Thou art! How great Thou art!”

(2x)

And when I think that God, His Son not sparing,

Sent Him to die – I scarce can take it in.

That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,

He bled and died to take away our sin.

Then sings my soul, “My Savior, God,” to Thee,

“How great Thou art! How great Thou art!”

(2x)

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation

And make His home, what joy shall fill my heart!

Then I shall bow in humble adoration

And there proclaim,

“My God, how great Thou art!”

Then sings my soul, “My Savior, God,” to Thee,

“How great Thou art! How great Thou art!”

Worship Leader:

Let's read together what the prophet Isaiah said concerning these things:

Congregation:

In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.

Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion. – Isaiah 30:15, 18

Alas, and Did My Savior Bleed?

Alas, and did my Savior bleed,

And did my Sovereign die?

Would He devote that sacred

For sinners such as I?

Was it for sins that I had done

He suffered on the tree?

Amazing pity, grace unknown,

And love beyond degree!

Well might the sun in darkness hide,

And shut His glory in,

When Christ, the Great Redeemer, died

For man, the creature’s, sin

Thus might I hide my blushing face

While His dear cross appears,

Dissolve my heart in thankfulness

And melt my eyes to tears.

Alas, and did my Savior bleed,

And did my Sovereign die?

Would He devote that sacred

For sinners such as I?

Was it for sins that I had done

He suffered on the tree?

Amazing pity, grace unknown,

And love beyond degree – beyond degree.

‘Tis So Sweet‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,

just to take Him at His word;

Just to rest upon His promise,

and to know, “Thus saith the Lord.”

O how sweet to trust in Jesus,

Just to trust His cleansing blood;

and in simple faith to plunge me

‘neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!

How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er!

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!

O, for grace to trust Him more!

Yes, ‘tis sweet to trust in Jesus,

Just from sin and self to cease;

Just from Jesus simply taking

life and rest, and joy and peace.

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!

How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er!

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!

O, for grace to trust Him more!

I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,

precious Jesus, Savior, friend;

and I know that Thou art with me,

You will be with me to the end.

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!

How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er!

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!

O, for grace to trust Him more!

Beginning In Two Weeks:

Ecclesiastes 11:7-12:8 “Sowing Salvation”

Sermon notes @ http://bible.com/e/1H4c

Ecclesiastes 11:7-12:8 7 Light is sweet, and it is pleasant for the eyes to see the sun.8 So if a person lives many years, let him rejoice in them all; but let him remember that the days of darkness will be many.

All that comes is vanity.

9 Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of

your heart and the sight of your eyes. But know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.

10 Remove vexation from your heart, and put away pain from your body, for youth and the dawn of life are vanity.

12 Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of

which you will say, “I have no pleasure in them”; 2 before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars are darkened

and the clouds return after the rain,

.3 in the day when the keepers of the house tremble, and the strong men are bent, and the grinders cease because they are

few, and those who look through the windows are dimmed, 4 and the doors on the street are shut—when the sound of the grinding is low, and one rises up at the sound of a bird, and all the daughters of song are brought low—

 5 they are afraid also of what is high, and terrors are in the way; the almond tree blossoms, the grasshopper drags itself along, and desire fails, because man is going to his eternal home, and the mourners go about the streets— 6 before the silver cord is snapped, or the golden bowl is broken, or the

pitcher is shattered at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern, 7 and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the

spirit returns to God who gave it. 8 Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher; all is vanity.

Ecclesiastes 11:7-87 Light is sweet, and it is pleasant for the eyes to see the sun.8 So if a person lives many years, let him rejoice in them all;

but let him remember that the days of darkness will be many. All that comes is vanity.

Ecclesiastes 11:9-10  9 Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart

cheer you in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart and the sight of your eyes. But know that for all

these things God will bring you into judgment.10 Remove vexation from your heart, and put away pain from

your body, for youth and the dawn of life are vanity.

Ecclesiastes 12:1-212 Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of

which you will say, “I have no pleasure in them”; 2 before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars are darkened

and the clouds return after the rain,

Ecclesiastes 12:3-43 in the day when the keepers of the house tremble, and the

strong men are bent, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those who look through the windows are

dimmed, 4 and the doors on the street are shut—when the sound of the grinding is low, and one rises up at the sound of

a bird, and all the daughters of song are brought low—

Ecclesiastes 12:5-85 they are afraid also of what is high, and terrors are in the way; the almond tree blossoms, the grasshopper drags itself along, and desire fails, because man is going to his eternal home, and the mourners go about the streets— 6 before the silver cord is snapped, or the golden bowl is broken, or the

pitcher is shattered at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern, 7 and the dust returns to the earth as it was, and the

spirit returns to God who gave it. 8 Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher; all is vanity.

Gospel Application:

1) Do we think we are invincible not considering a legacy we can leave?

2) Do we remember our Creator and in return live that way?

3) How will the Gospel compel to live radically different for Jesus whether

young or old in Seward/Cedar-Riverside?

Do this in remembrance of me…

2 Corinthians 9:7Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion,

for God loves a cheerful giver.

1 Corinthians 11:23-26For I received from the Lord what I also

delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24 and

when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body which is for you. Do this

in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup

is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of

me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's

death until he comes.

Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us

Savior, like a shepherd lead us,

much we need Thy tender care;

In Thy pleasant pastures feed us,

for our use Thy folds prepare.

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!

Thou hast bought us, Thine we are.

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!

Thou hast bought us, Thine we are.

We are Thine, do Thou befriend us,

be the guardian of our way;

Keep Thy flock, from sin defend us,

seek us when we go astray.

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!

Hear, O hear us when we pray.

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!

Hear, O hear us when we pray.

Thou hast promised to receive us,

poor and sinful though we be;

Thou hast mercy to relieve us,

grace to cleanse and power to free.

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!

Let us early turn to Thee.

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!

Let us early turn to Thee.

Early let us seek Thy favor,

early let us do Thy will;

Blessed Lord and only Savior,

with Thy love our hearts now fill.

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!

Thou hast loved us, love us still.

Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!

Thou hast loved us, love us still.

What a Friend We Have in JesusWhat a friend we have in Jesus,

All our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carry

everything to God in prayer!

Oh, what peace we often forfeit!

Oh, what needless pain we bear!

All because we do not carry

Everything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations?

Is there trouble anywhere?

Jesus, Savior, is our refuge.

Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden,

Cumbered with a load of care?

Precious Savior’s still our refuge;

Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Oh, what a friend!

Oh, what a friend in Jesus!

Oh, what a friend!

Oh, what a friend in Jesus!

(2x)

Blessed Savior, You have promised,

All our burdens You will bear.

May we ever, Lord, be bringing

All to you in earnest prayer.

Soon, in glory bright unclouded,

Face to face will be our prayer.

Joyful praise and endless worship

Will be our sweet portion there!

Oh, what a friend!

Oh, what a friend in Jesus!

Oh, what a friend!

Oh, what a friend in Jesus!

What Wondrous Love is ThisWhat wondrous love is this, O my soul!

What wondrous love is this, O my soul!

What wondrous love is this

that caused the Lord of bliss

to bear the dreadful curse for my soul!

to bear the dreadful curse for my soul!

For my soul!

When I was sinking down, sinking down;

When I was sinking down, sinking down;

When I was sinking down

beneath God’s righteous frown,

Christ laid aside His crown for my soul.

Christ laid aside His crown for my soul!

For my soul!

And when from death I’m free, I’ll sing on.

And when from death I’m free, I’ll sing on.

And when from death I’m free,

I’ll sing and joyful be.

And through eternity I’ll sing on.

And through eternity I’ll sing on.

I’ll sing on.

I’ll sing on.

I’lll sing on.
