O, for a Thousand Tongues to Sing!

O for a thousand tongues to singmy great Redeemer’s praise,

the glories of my God and King,the triumphs of His grace!

My gracious Master and my God, assist me to proclaim,

to spread through all the earth abroadthe honors of Thy name!

Jesus! the name that charms our fears,that bids our sorrows cease;

‘Tis music in the sinner’s ears,‘Tis life, and health, and peace.

He breaks the power of cancelled sin,He sets the prisoner free;

His blood can make the foulest clean,His blood availed for me.

Glory to God, and praise, and lovebe ever, ever given,

By saints below and saints above,the church in earth and heaven.

By saints below and saints above,the church in earth and heaven.

Alas, and Did My Savior Bleed?Alas, and did my Savior bleed,

And did my Sovereign die?Would He devote that sacred

For sinners such as I?

Was it for sins that I had doneHe suffered on the tree?

Amazing pity, grace unknown,And love beyond degree!

Well might the sun in darkness hide,And shut His glory in,

When Christ, the Great Redeemer, diedFor man, the creature’s, sin

Thus might I hide my blushing faceWhile His dear cross appears,

Dissolve my heart in thankfulnessAnd melt my eyes to tears.

Alas, and did my Savior bleed,And did my Sovereign die?

Would He devote that sacredFor sinners such as I?

Was it for sins that I had doneHe suffered on the tree?

Amazing pity, grace unknown,And love beyond degree – beyond

degree.

‘Tis So Sweet‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,just to take Him at His word;Just to rest upon His promise,

and to know, “Thus saith the Lord.”

O how sweet to trust in Jesus,Just to trust His cleansing blood;and in simple faith to plunge me

‘neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er!

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!O, for grace to trust Him more!

Yes, ‘tis sweet to trust in Jesus,Just from sin and self to cease;Just from Jesus simply taking

life and rest, and joy and peace.

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er!

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!O, for grace to trust Him more!

I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee,precious Jesus, Savior, friend;

and I know that Thou art with me,You will be with me to the end.

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er!

Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!O, for grace to trust Him more!

Ecclesiastes 9:13-10:7 “Wrecking it for the Rest of Us” Sermon notes @ http://bible.com

Ecclesiastes 9:13-10:7 13 I have also seen this example of wisdom under the sun, and it seemed great to me. 14 There was a little city with few men in it, and a great king came against it and besieged it, building great siegeworks against it. 15 But there was found in it a poor, wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no one remembered that poor man.

16 But I say that wisdom is better than might, though the poor man's wisdom is despised and his words are not heard.17 The words of the wise heard in quiet are better than the shouting of a ruler among fools. 18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good.

10 Dead flies make the perfumer's ointment give off a stench;    so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor.2 A wise man's heart inclines him to the right,    but a fool's heart to the left.3 Even when the fool walks on the road, he lacks sense,    and he says to everyone that he is a fool.4 If the anger of the ruler rises against you, do not leave your place,    for calmness will lay great offenses to rest.

5 There is an evil that I have seen under the sun, as it were an error proceeding from the ruler: 6 folly is set in many high places, and the rich sit in a low place. 7 I have seen slaves on horses, and princes walking on the ground like slaves.

Ecclesiastes 9:13-1513 I have also seen this example of wisdom under the sun, and it seemed great to me. 14 There was a little city with few men in it, and a great king came against it and besieged it, building great siegeworks against it. 15 But there was found in it a poor, wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city. Yet no one remembered that poor man.

Ecclesiastes 9:16-18 16 But I say that wisdom is better than might, though the poor man's wisdom is despised and his words are not heard.17 The words of the wise heard in quiet are better than the shouting of a ruler among fools. 18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good.

Ecclesiastes 10:1-410 Dead flies make the perfumer's ointment give off a stench;    so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor.2 A wise man's heart inclines him to the right,    but a fool's heart to the left.3 Even when the fool walks on the road, he lacks sense,    and he says to everyone that he is a fool.4 If the anger of the ruler rises against you, do not leave your place,    for calmness will lay great offenses to rest.

Ecclesiastes 10:5-75 There is an evil that I have seen under the sun, as it were an error proceeding from the ruler: 6 folly is set in many high places, and the rich sit in a low place. 7 I have seen slaves on horses, and princes walking on the ground like slaves.

Gospel Application:1) Have you deeply considered the

wisdom of God? 2) Do we pity the fool or run from folly and

embrace godly wisdom? 3) How will the Gospel seem like

foolishness to the world and beautiful to those who are dying?

Do this in remembrance of me…

2 Corinthians 9:7Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion,

for God loves a cheerful giver.

1 Corinthians 11:23-26For I received from the Lord what I also

delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24 and

when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body which is for you. Do this

in remembrance of me.” 25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup

is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of

me.” 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's

death until he comes.

Narrow Little RoadI believe in the love of God

It is an orphan’s wildest dreamIt is a narrow little road

It is an ever-widening desert stream

Oh I, and I, I will leave this roadFor the narrow

(x2)

It is portrayed in the bread and wineLet it fortify my bones

It is more than just a signIt is the fountain from the desert stone

Oh I, and I, I will leave this roadFor the narrow

(x2)

The love of God is the hymn of hopeLet the needy join the throngLet the fallen take the rope

Let the cripple rise to sing the song

Oh I, and I, I will leave this roadFor the narrow

(x2)

It is the path where the humble goIt is the narrow not the broadIt is the pathway up the hill

To the graveyard of the living God

Oh I, and I, I will leave this roadFor the narrow

Christ, Or Else I DieGracious Lord, incline Thine ear; My request vouchsafe to hear;

Hear my never-ceasing cry; Give me Christ, or else I die.

Wealth and honor I disdain, Earthly comforts, Lord, are vain;

These can never satisfy: Give me Christ, or else I die.

All unholy and unclean, I am weighted by my sin;

On thy mercy I rely; Give me Christ, or else I die

Thou dost freely save the lost; In Thy grace alone I trust.

With my earnest plea comply; Give me Christ, or else I die.

All unholy and unclean, I am weighted by my sin;

On thy mercy I rely; Give me Christ, or else I die

Thou hast promised to forgive All who in thy Son believe;

Lord, I know Thou cannot lie; Give me Christ, or else I die

All unholy and unclean, I am weighted by my sin;

On thy mercy I rely; Give me Christ, or else I die

What a Friend We Have in JesusWhat a friend we have in Jesus,All our sins and griefs to bear!

What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!

Oh, what peace we often forfeit!Oh, what needless pain we bear!

All because we do not carryEverything to God in prayer.

Have we trials and temptations?Is there trouble anywhere?Jesus, Savior, is our refuge.Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy laden,Cumbered with a load of care?

Precious Savior’s still our refuge;Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Oh, what a friend! Oh, what a friend in Jesus!

Oh, what a friend!Oh, what a friend in Jesus!

(2x)

Blessed Savior, You have promised,All our burdens You will bear.

May we ever, Lord, be bringingAll to you in earnest prayer.

Soon, in glory bright unclouded,Face to face will be our prayer.

Joyful praise and endless worshipWill be our sweet portion there!

Oh, what a friend! Oh, what a friend in Jesus!

Oh, what a friend!Oh, what a friend in Jesus!

Amazing GraceAmazing grace – how sweet the sound! –

that saved a wretch like me!I once was lost but now am found;

was blind, but now I see.

Amazing grace – how sweet the sound! –

that saved a wretch like me!I once was lost but now am found;

was blind, but now I see.

T’was Grace that taught my heart to fear,

And Grace, my fears relieved.How precious did that Grace appear

the hour I first believed!

Through many dangers, toils and snares

I have already come;‘Tis Grace that brought me safe thus

farand Grace will lead me home!

When we’ve been there ten thousand years

bright shining as the sunwe’ve no less days to sing God’s

praisethan when we first begun!
