YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK

The single major factor determining orlimiting your success and happinessis your self image or your self esteem.

Esteem means…..to appreciate the value of.Self image…….determines your sensitivity to the

needs of others, your ability to solve problems, your ability to handle responsibility and your judgment.

Positive Self-Image = Positive Self Confidence

How does someone gain self confidence?

Built on experiences of success from early childhood on. Dwell on success not failure.

Self Awareness means

• More than presenting a good image and feeling good about yourself. It’s honestly looking at your inner self and learning to deal with your feelings and situations.

• The important things is not how you are feeling, but how you choose to respond to it.

Today I was talking to a teacher in her mid twenties. She said

"I think the students should just respect me and do as they are told." August 31, 2002. Brussels

Those in positions of authority often expect and try to demand that those beneath them show 'respect.' But if they have not

first earned respect by showing it (which is done by respecting the other person's feelings and needs), they may find that their power is actually based on fear. Once a person no longer fears

such an authority figure (AF), then the AF's power base quickly disappears out from under them, often leaving them

feeling frustrated, powerless, confused and resentful.

Power vs Influence

potential to influence.

• What is Authority?– A power or right delegated or given

• What is Influence?– As the change in a target agent’s attitudes, values,

beliefs, or behaviors, as the result of influence tactics
