SALSUS cont…
• The survey also gives us measures of health and wellbeing, level of consumption of substances, leisure activities, experience of advice and support through schools etc etc
• Other similar surveys (e.g. Glasgow schools survey published January 2012) also give information on ethnicity, sexual health, use of services etc etc
Conclusions
• The Scottish Public Health Observatory Profiles provide the most comprehensive overview of health and wellbeing by CH(C)P and intermediate geographies to date
• Overall – many reassuring findings (e.g. rising life expectancy)
• But emerging challenges (e.g. alcohol misuse)
• Useful local information on children and young people in ScotPHO profiles and other sources (e.g. SALSUS, ISD datasets)
• But beware over interpretation
