Where is Scotland?

• Scotland is in north-west Europe and is part of Great Britain, an island country and the United Kingdom. Scotland is a mountainous country in the north of the island of Great Britain and shares a land border to the south with England and is bounded by the North Sea on the east and the Atlantic Ocean on the west. Its capital city is Edinburgh.

Food In Scotland

• Haggis is a dish containing sheep's 'pluck' (heart, liver and lungs), minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, and traditionally simmered in the animal's stomach for approximately three hours. Most modern commercial haggis is prepared in a casing rather than an actual stomach.

Scottish Traditions

• The castles? The bagpipes? The Highland Games? Or is it whisky? Infact is that you are likely to find some unique features in Scotland and its people that you won't find easily, and originally, anywhere else in the world.

Money & Currency

The strength of the pound sterling makes Scotland an expensive destination for non-Europeans. Food, accommodation and transport are all fairly pricey, and more so in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen than in the rest of the country; the only real bargains are the many excellent museums and galleries that you can visit for free.
