Curriculum Report-June
This has been a very different and at times challenging term with remote learning occurring
owing to COVID. Teachers, parents and children are to be commended on their considerable
efforts to continue learning. A major focus was on wellbeing, focussing on being kind to
ourselves and others during these difficult times.
Staff worked so hard to provide online learning, having to adjust the curriculum and to make
it more accessible for all students. We had to reflect and adjust frequently. At first it was
baffling as to why so many children were unable to work independently, as we thought our
instructions were clear and at a suitable level. We realised that some children not all rely on
their classmates, on working together, on visual explanations and finding oral and written
instructions hard to follow at times. We also realised the need for many visual examples and
found many useful videos to assist students.
Many thanks to parents for their hard work and support, no doubt it was challenging to
juggle children, your own work and running a household.
Well done to all students for giving their best with remote learning. Many children truly
missed their classmates and social interactions. The class meetings were a supportive way to
enable social interaction.
EVERYONE has learnt a lot about technology, some of us were really pushed out of our
comfort zone but we were truly grateful to have IT support and a bank of devices so that all
children could have access.
The main positive from this experience is that health and wellbeing was paramount, and we
will continue to work together to stay safe and as healthy as possible.

MID YEAR REPORTS
Individual mid- year reports have been distributed and you would have had the opportunity to
discuss your child’s report this week. The reports reflect the learning and experiences during
the time of the COVID-19 remote learning. Student Led Conferences are being conducted on
Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Please book via compass. If you require any assistance
logging on please advise your child’s teacher or ring the school office as we can assist you.
TERM 3
At this point we are unsure as to what regulations will apply to schools in tetm 3. We will
inform parents once Victoria’s Chief health officer provides schools with instructions and
operational procedures.
Thanks again to everyone for supporting the school with entering and exiting as well as
supporting social distancing.
SCHOOL UNIFORM REMINDER
With all students back on site it is timely to remind parents, carers and students, about our
school dress code. All students are to wear correct school uniform at all times. At the moment
there are a number of children wearing other non -school uniform items, particularly tops.
Parents are reminded that our Dress Code as approved by GWPS School Council contains the
approved required uniform list.
Please make sure all school items are clearly named.
CAPTURING YOUR VOICE AND THE COLLECTIVE VOICE OF THE COMMUNITY VIA SCHOOL
SURVEY
Please see details regarding the survey in last week’s newsletter June 18th, under the heading
of Survey.
The information that you as a community provide to us will assist us to plan ahead for future
improvements.
Parent opinion and feedback is highly valued and, gaining a high level of survey responses will
be appreciated. A survey will be sent in Term 3.
SCHOOL REVIEW TERM 4,2020
The school will be undertaking a School Review in term 4. Your feedback will provide valuable
data and insights for us as a school to move forward.
We have had many emails and comments of a positive nature from parents during term 2
regarding remote and flexible learning experience however, it is important that we gain feedback in a more formal
way.
