Summer Band
Current Grade 5 students
August 15 – 25
Summer Band is a great way for your child to begin learning their instrument. Summer lessons allow us to meet in small sections, for 30 minutes twice a week. We will begin learning basic instrument care, technique, breathing, posture and music reading!!! Summer lessons give students a solid foundation for their band experience.
Lessons will take place at the Middle School band room in the month of August. There is a book fee to cover the cost of the lesson book your child will receive at lessons. There will be a sign-up for lesson times/days after students choose an instrument this Spring. The following schedule is just an example of how the lesson schedule might look… I will adjust the number of sections for each instrument based on sign up.
Monday/Wednesday Tuesday/Thursday
8:00-8:30 Flutes Trumpets
8:30-9:00 Clarinets Trombones
9:00-9:30 Percussion Baritones
9:30-10:00 Flutes Clarinets
10:00-10:30 Trombones Trumpets
10:30-11:00 Clarinets Saxophones
11:00-11:30 Baritones Percussion
11:30-12:00 Trumpets Saxophones
Again, this is not a final schedule. You will receive a letter home after instrument sign up letting you know what instrument your child has chosen and how to sign up for a lesson time/day.
If you will be on vacation for part of this summer school time I would still like your child to sign up and attend lessons when possible- Some lesson time is much better than no lesson time.
Feel free to contact me at clarsen@cambridge.k12.wi.us or 423-7335 ext. 2151 if you have any questions prior to registration.
