Message from the Principal
Hi Everyone
Parent teacher interviews
Today we entered into live booking of parent/teacher
interview times with mixed success. When booking opened at
8.30 this morning there was a great flurry of action, (though
not the same intensity as when booking tickets last year for
Shrek Junior). Well done to the parents of 1B who had 60 %
of their times booked by 8.45! This is amazing take up.
From this exercise you have fed back that there were issues
with connection. The App is not as friendly as the WEB
link…we are in contact with the supplier relaying our issues in
this area.
On the whole this has been a winner, and will only get better
with time.
Grade 6 camp
Coming up after the Labor Day holiday is the grade 6 camp.
This is the final camp experience for our students and it is
certainly a wonderful way to build esteem and a sense of
community which sets them up for a fantastic final year at
Montrose. The camp at Anglesea includes an optional surf
school experience as well as a hike and camping component.
For many this will be their first ever ‘under canvas’
experience. (And if it rains it might be their last). I look
forward to joining the campers for the second half of the
week!
Year 5 Exploration Day - TRANSITION to Secondary
School
The week after Labor Day our year 5’s have been invited to
Yarra Hills to have a taste of secondary school life. Why are
the 5s involved, and not the 6s? That is because for you as a
parent, Year 5 is your thinking and investigating year. This is
the year you start the decision making process about where
your child will be going.
If you have older children, or your mind is made… well and
good. But if not, now is the time to attend the information
sessions, book a tour and talk to their representative about
your child. The enrolment day for secondary school happens
early in term 2… you will not have the time to do your
research next year. So start your thinking now.

Have a great week! MPS Office
There were a lot of new volunteer mums helping out in the canteen last week, and by all accounts they had a lot of fun and enjoyed being amongst the canteen action. The children were absolutely delighted to see their mums in the canteen and many have come back to tell me all about it Thank you to all those who have joined the canteen volunteer team on the roster and to those who have offered to be an emergency contact. The more helpers we have, the more people there are to fill gaps when emergency fill ins are required. Moosie Wrapper Redemption If your child is new to Montrose Primary please let them know that if they bring their Moosie wrapper back to the canteen they will receive an Anzac Biscuit or alternatively they can choose to spend 20c on little snacks. Yoghurt Balls, Apricot Fruit Cubes and Wildberry Bites are amongst the 5c -20c options that they can select from. Canteen Volunteeer Thank you A BIG thank you to Bronwyn Reimers for helping in the canteen on Wednesday. Also a BIG thanks to Clair Seymour, Madeline Hawke, Zoe Jackson and Colleen Thompson for helping in the canteen on Friday. What can I buy? Nice N Joosey frozen fruit tubes, nicknamed as ‘Icy Poles’, are available in various flavours for $1.00. Amanda

What is it?
Kindness is showing care and concern for other people, animals and the environment.
Kindness need not be on a grand scale - it can
be in a small gesture.
It can brighten up somebody’s life, help animals feel more cared for and make the planet a
better place to live.
