About Hussain Sagar

The Hussain Sagar Lake was built by Hussain Shah Walli in 1562, during the rule of Ibrahim Quli Qutb

Shah.

Surprising but true, the water of Hussain Sagar was used for drinking and irrigation for over 350 years!

Rapid urbanization and industrial development all along the catchment

areas has resulted in inflow of sewage, industrial waste and solid waste into the
