Hello parents, carers and friends of Sandy Beach Public School,

Classes have now settled into their 2020 routines, despite days of wet weather! Swimming Carnival On Monday we held the School Swimming Carnival organised by Mr Murgatroyd for primary students. We were lucky enough to have sunshine and plenty of time for free swimming. Good luck to the students attending the Coffs Harbour District Swimming on 25 February 2020. Ribbons and results will be announced at Friday’s Primary assembly. Rugby League Clinic The students have been refining their catching and kicking skills at the rugby league clinics. Each class in Years 1 to 6 have participated in two sessions with coaches from North Coast Rugby League. Thank you Mrs Dawes for coordinating this event. General religious Education Scripture classes have commenced today. We have four teachers volunteering their time and welcome them back to the school this year. Rev Reeve, Mrs Hanger, Mrs Noakes and Mrs Girolimini. Student Leadership At last Friday’s assembly we inducted the first group of students leaders, our student council and sports house captains and vice captains. At the moment we are finalising the digital leaders and library monitors, who will receive their badges at the Primary Assembly on Friday 28 February at 12:30pm in the hall. Parents/carers of these students are invited to attend. Support your P & C On Saturday 29 February the P&C are holding a Nerf fundraising at the Moonee Tavern. I hope families can support our P&C by attending this event on the weekend. Footsteps Dance Our visiting performance this year is a little different but exciting. We have a company delivering daily dance lessons to the students for a week. I can highly recommend Footsteps as the students learn new skills, are active and have fun. A note will be sent out next week with further details. The cost is $21 for the lessons which start on Monday 16 March.
