Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
COMUNIDAD HISPANA PARISH LIFE
This Sunday, October 4th is Respect Life Sunday. October is Respect Life Month.
Prayer to End Abortion Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life, and for the lives of all my brothers and sisters. I know that there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion, yet I rejoice that you have conquered death by the Resurrection of Your Son. I am ready to do my part in ending abortion. Today I committed myself Never to be silent, Never to be passive, Never to be forgetful of the unborn. I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement, and never to stop defending life until all my brothers and sisters are protected, and our nation once again becomes a nation with liberty and justice not just for some, but for all. Through Christ our Lord. Amen! Fr. Frank Pavone. www.priestsforlife.org
Clarity Walk update As of Sept. 26th, Clarity’s 36 active teams with 210 walkers and 794 sponsors have raised $105,794, which is 151% of their goal!! Our St. James Catholic Church Respect Life Com-mittee Team raised $4,255 which placed us in 6th place among teams. Thank you Team Leader Jaunie Knapp, Walk-ers and Sponsors. Very nicely done!
Newspaper Ad final signup weekend This is the final weekend that St. James Respect Life Commit-tee members, on behalf of the Right to Life Kentucky Heart-land Association, will be at the Church exits collecting signa-tures for the annual Pro-Life ad. That ad is published each year in the Elizabethtown News Enterprise Newspaper on or about January 22nd (the date of the U.S. Supreme Court Roe v. Wade ruling permitting abortions). A $5 donation towards the cost of the ad is suggested, but NOT required to add your name to those taking a public stand for the Right to Life of the unborn. Please stop by one of the sign-up tables on your way out of Church.
Cemetery of the Innocents Crosses representing the cemetery of the unborn will be erected on the lawn of Dr. and Mrs. Godfrey again this year. Volunteers are needed to help install the crosses on Saturday, October 31st, starting at 11am. Last year over 60 volunteers of all ages were able to install 2,788 crosses on the lawn of Dr. and Mrs. Godfrey one Saturday. The number of student volunteers was especially heartwarming! Details concerning this year’s effort will be published in the coming weeks in this column. Please save the date, Saturday October 31st.

First Reading: Isaiah 25:6-10a
Second Reading: Philippians 4:12-14, 19-20
Gospel: Matthew 22:1-14 OR 22:1-10
As humans, we can be possessive of our worldly
goods and take credit for our talents. Yet, everything
we have is a gift from God – even the work we do to
earn our living is done through the energy and
talents that God gave to us. Like the tenants in to-
day’s Gospel, we owe everything to God, our divine
Landlord.

STEWARDSHIP
Stewardship of Treasure
Weekend of September 26th and 27th
Amount Collected $19,941.31
*NOTE: Collections that are paid through automatic withdrawals are drafted on the last business day of the month.
“Do not worry about anything, but in everything,
by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving; let
your requests be made known to God. And the
peace of God which surpasses all understanding
will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7
The opposite of Christian stewardship is fear. Giving
to God “from the top” and not what is left over re-
quires an inner assurance that God will provide for
our needs. This assurance or faith is the solid founda-
tion for the practical exercise of stewardship.
The 2019-2020 Saint James Catholic Church

the Archdiocese of Louisville or to make a gift online,
