We try to watch the newspaper obituaries but sometimes we miss it. It is so nice for the whole parish to pray for your loved ones; as we are a family!

Music Ministry
Music Ministry is alive and vibrant at St. Barbara’s Parish! There are many op-portunities to participate in the musi-cal ensembles.
For those of you who enjoy singing but are unable to commit to the regular choir practice schedules, this is perfect for you to celebrate in memorable church histo-ry.
St. Barbara’s Adult Choir: Practices on Wednesday eve-nings from 7:00-8:15 pm and serves the 10:30 am Sunday mass. It is open to high school students and adults who have a passion for singing. No auditions required. Come and join us in singing and prayer.
St. Barbara’s Adult Bell Choir: Members should also be of high school age above. Ringing does require some tech-nique, easier than learning how to operate your IPhone!! The Adult Bell Choir practices on Wednesday evenings from 5:45-7:00 pm and plays one Sunday a month at the 10:30am mass.
St. Barbara’s Contemporary Ensemble: is a mix of musi-cians and singers who lead the 4:30 pm mass on Saturdays. Music is of the contemporary flare.
If you have questions, please contact Marisa Stoll at the par-ish office @ 330-833-6898 or mstoll@saintbarbaraparish.com.

Church Overseas Combined Collection – Catholics around the country have always responded to the needs of people everywhere. Next weekend the Diocese of Youngstown will hold this collection In order to assist the Church in its ministries throughout the world. This combined collection supports four major overseas services: Catholic Relief Services (CRS), Holy Father/Peter’s Pence, the Church in Central and Eastern Europe and the Church in Latin America. Please remember as we move forward toward the season of Lent, to support these important programs of charity in the Church.
Thank You – once again to all St. Barb parishioners who
took angels from our Giving Trees. Your support of this year’s Christmas Giving Tree was instrumental in providing many wonderful gifts, clothes, toiletries and food gift certificates for 25 area families in need. These families totaled 88 people who so greatly appreciated our support!! Many smiles, hugs and tears were seen on distribution day. We also supported the Faith in Action organization, so that all could enjoy a wonderful holiday. A heartfelt thank you goes out to the following committee mem-bers whose invaluable assistance helps keep this wonderful ministry moving forward: Fran Bush, Terry Cox, Tim Bush and Cathy Saunders, Camden Brenner, Mackenzie Brenner, Bob and Mary Kring, Jane Wyman, Tess Simonetti, Joan Parr, Bon-nie Pratt and Sue Gibbons. A very special thank you goes out to all the ushers who gathered all the gifts after every Mass (which is no easy undertaking), and Father Brian for getting the live trees, and whose invaluable assistance along with Mary, Jen and the 7th and 8th grade teachers and students who filled the angels not taken, as a service project! God bless you!!! And as always a special thank you to Judy and Jen at the par-ish office who help in so many ways! And last but certainly not least, a BIG thank you to Mary Workman for all your help and assistance with getting into the bride’s room so that we could organize and distribute all the gifts!! Until next year, may God
continue to keep you in His care.
Karen Cox, Stacie Brenner and Kim Mitchell
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Victoria Menches, Mahaylee Neace and
BreAnna Piorkowski of our Parish. These three Washing-
ton High Senior Girls are candidates for the title of Miss
Massillonian. They were selected from a field of 19 girls
and then were narrowed down to a field of 12 . They will
now be vying for the title which will be announced in May
along with Outstanding Senior Boy. To be nominated for
the honor they must have a 3.3 grade point average, fewer
than 24 absences from freshman to junior year. The stu-
dents submit an impromptu essay and are selected on
academic achievement, attendance, involvement in extra-
curricular activities, a vote by fellow seniors and the essay.
Saint Barbara Parish Family is very proud of the three girls
accomplishments and wish them well.

Marked By Faith (Ages 21 to 39)
Marked By Faith is a Catholic young adult ministry formed by St. Barbara Parish. It is open to all young adults at any parish, married or single, between the ages of 21 and 39. The events take place usually on the first Sunday of the month from 3 PM to 5 PM in the Community Room. This ministry aims to strengthen faith and build community among Catho-lic young adults in northeastern Ohio through pray-er, discussion, and service.
For more details about this event and future events, join our Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/markedbyfaith or contact Mollie Luginski at mlugin-ski@youngstowndiocese.org or 330-833-6898.
Attention 18-Year Olds or Older !
Persons who are 18 years old or older need to register in their own name at the Rectory as a parishioner since they are now adults. It does not matter whether living at home or not. If you are 18 or over and have not registered in your own name, please come to the Rectory and register as an adult. This is important since you may need proof of active parish participa-tion for Marriage or to be a Sponsor for Baptism or Confirma-tion. Please call the Rectory at 330-833-6898.
K OF C MATCHING FUND PROGRAM
I wish to thank everyone in Saint Barbara’s parish for their
support of our Massillon Council 554 for 2018. You may
not be aware of the different ways your Massillon K of C
supports our Church and School. One of the things the K
of C does to support Catholic Education is called the
matching fund program. Our Massillon Council 554’s con-
tribution to the fund will assist in strengthening the Catholic
Education efforts in every Catholic school, in every reli-
gious program, and in every RCIA program of our dio-
cese. The Matching Funds Program ran from September 1
through November 15, 2018. The Ohio Charity Foundation,
Inc. of the Ohio State Council was matching the first
$25,000 donated to this year’s program. All contributions
from our council and participating councils from our dio-
cese, as well as any amounts matched, will go to the Reli-
gious Education Department of our Diocese. The Youngs-
town Diocese was presented a check for $10,356.27. Your
council in Massillon was the 2nd highest contributor in the
Youngstown Diocese and the 5th in the state of Ohio.
When you see a K of C member say thanks. If you know
any Catholic men that are not K of C members ask them to
join as it will strengthen our Church and Diocese.
God Bless you all for your support of our council.
Joe Vilhosky, Parish Round Table Coordinator
Massillon Council 554

THANK YOU FROM THE CARING STITCHERS
Our St. Barbara “Caring Stitchers” group would like to say
“Thank You”, to everyone that made our yearly craft sale a
success. Because of all of you, we have the funds for batting,
thread, snap tape, and Velcro for all our projects this year.
Father Brian, thanks for letting us use the narthex for our Craft
Sale. We also had a “Spur of the Moment” sale, and sold 16
handmade pairs of wool gloves and 14 sets of cupcake pot-
holders. Profits from this sale helped us purchase 17 pairs of
pajamas for the Children’s Network of Stark County. We do-
nated 88 blankets and 2 large bags of toiletries to 55 nursing
home or homebound patients from Saint Barbara Church.
Three boxes of assorted items were donated to the Family
Living Center and 18 laundry bags were delivered to the
Massillon Pregnancy Center. Sams of Massillon received sev-
enteen utility bags, potholders, and two bed quilts. The Can-
ton YMCA received a variety of items for bingo prizes. A box
of baby items were donated to Mary Kring for Right to Life of
Stark County. We also donated two raffle baskets to the
McCarthy fundraiser. Our parish families, friends, and Father
Brian have helped us again this year to keep our mission
strong. Thank you all !! I would like to personally thank all of
our group members because without all of them there would
not be “The Caring Stitchers”.
Sincerely, Mary Sirgo and “The Caring Stitchers”
Thank You /Baby Jack We can’t say thank you enough to everyone for all of your support and prayers through Jack’s journey this far. To eve-ryone who was involved in the benefit dinner, St. Barbara Church and Father Cline for the hall. The crew that cooked, served and helped to set-up/clean-up; food donations from Giant Eagle, The Eagles, Schwebels, the Buzzetta family and for anyone who donated the desserts and baked goods and the nearly 60 baskets donated for the raffle. And thank you to our family and friends who volunteered their time. We firmly believe God’s will and the power of prayer has gotten Jack where he is today. Please continue
to pray for his healing and health.
Love, Tracy, Tommy and Baby Jack McCarthy
