Tallinn Co-Educational Gymnasium750 pupils in 25 class sets500 in basic school250 in gymnasium35 classrooms, workshops, a big and a

small gym, a fitness room, a hall, a libraryduring breaks pupils can spend time in

corridors, hall or library and in spring and autumn time in the yard

GoalsIncrease spare time activities during breaks

and after classes.Encourage pupils to organize their free time

more reasonably.To strengthen the unity of our school by

cooperation.To provide school with appropriate means in

order to carry out our goals.

Our activitiesPLANNING:Analyses of the situation – activities during

the breaks and after lessonsDividing school into zones – active and

peaceful activitiesAssessment of needs – what do we need in

different areasCompiling a plan of action

REPORTING:A school activity programme and a survey of

the project is on the homepage of the project.A short introduction of the project is on the

school homepage.Informing teachers in a staff meeting.

CO-OPERATION:Primary school – a research work on the topic

of “What and with what did my granny/granddad play during the school years?”.

All pupils – Internet quiz about spare time preferences during the breaks.

Subject committees and a library – wishes for getting games and other means.

Brainstorm in the students’ committee for new ideas.

ResultsAn established tradition of games during the

breaks, such as big table games, air hockey, table football, korona for elder pupils and smaller games for younger ones.

Educative exhibitions are displayed on the 2nd floor.

Enlarged spare time activities in the library – table and brain games, a reading nest with cushions, reading lessons for younger pupils.

Diverse activities for a after school study and play group.

ProblemsOutdoor activities are possible only in good

weather during spring and autumn period.Cooperation with upper and lower forms

during the breaks is impossible because of different time schedule.

“Calming down” room has not been established yet because of lack of the room.
