CAT 2013 ELIGIBILITY
The candidate must hold a Bachelors Degree, with at
least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of the
candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste(SC),
Scheduled Tnbe (ST) and Differently Abled (DA) (It may
also referred to as Persons With Disability (PWD)
categones], awarded by any of the Universities
incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in
India or other educational institutions established by an
act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a
University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or
possess an equivalent quaWcatkm recognized by the
Ministry of HRD, Government of India (For Details of

obtained by the candidate in the bachelors degree would
be calculated based on the practice followed by the
university/institution from where thecandklete has
obtamed the degree. In case the candidates are awarded
grades/CGPA instead of marks, the convete KJn of

on the procedure certified by the university/ institution from
where they have obtained ffe bachelors degree. In case

Common Admission Test (CAT) 2013
The Indian Institutes of Management-will conduct Common Admission Test 20-13 (CAT2013) during a 20-day testing window
between October 16.2013 and November 11, 2013. CAT2013 will be conducted by IIMs as a pre-requisite lor admission to various
management programmes of IIMs. These programmes are:

with 100. Candidates appearing for the final year of
bachelors degree/equivalent qualification examination and
Ihose who have completed degree requirements and are
awaiting results can also apply. If selected, such
candio^teswiBrjeallowedtojdn the program only if he/she
submits a certificate latest by June 30.2014 From the
Pnnapal/Registrar of his/her College/Institute (issued on
or before June 30, 2014) stating that the candidate has
completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelors
degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of
the certificate. UMs may verify eligibility at various stages
of the selection process, the details of which are provided
at the website www.cat2013.llmidr.ac.ln. Applicants
should note that the mere fulfillment of minimum
eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for
shortlisting by IIMs.
Prospective candidates must maintain a valid and
unique email account and a phone number
throughout the selectlonprocess.
RESERVATIONS
As per the Government of India requirements, 15% of the
seats are reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) and 7.5%
for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates. 27% of seats are
reserved for Other Backward Classes candidates
belonging to the non-creamy layer (NC-OBC).
For an updated central list of slate-wise OBCs eligible
for availing the benefit of reservation and information in
respect of the creamy layer visit the website
www.ncbc.nic.ln. In case of NC-OBC category, the
castes included in Central List (available at Error!
Hyperlink reference not valid.) of NC-OBC by the
National Commission of Backward Classes, Government
of India as on last day of registration will be used. Any
subsequent changes will not be effective for CAT2013.
As perlhe provision under section 39 of the PWD Act,
1995,3% seats are reserved for Differently Abled (DA)
candidates. The three categories of disability are; a) low-
vision/ blindness, b) hearing Impairment, and o) locomotor:
disability/cerebral palsy. This provision is applicable if the
candidate suffers from any of the listed disabilities to the
extent of not less than 40%, as certified by a medical
authority as prescribed and explained in the said Act.
The candidates belonging to categories for which seats
are reserved need to noteand read the eligibility
requirements carefully before applying. It should be noted
that while it is the endeavor of IIMs that the candidatesbelonging to SC/ST/PWD/Non-Creamy OBC categories
join the Programme in proportions mandated by the law,
they have to meet the minimum eligibility criteria
andacertain minimum level of performance in the
admission process. The candidates should read carefully
the description of admission process followed by each
IIM on their respective websites. No change in the category
wiH be entertained after the closure of registration
window; hence, the applicants are advised to give
attention while registering.
PAYMENTOF REGISTRATION FEES
Thefees is Rs. 1600/- (General and NC-OBC candidates)
and WOO/-(SC/ST/P WD/DA) candidates. The details
about payment of fees will be made available on CAT
2013 website www.cat2013.limidr.ac.ln from 5:00 PM on
Saturday, August3,2013.
Please note that a candidate needs to pay only once
registration fees irrespective of the number of institutes
he/she is applying for. Note that the fees must be paid
only in the name of the candidate as it appears in the
12th/Diploma/Degree Certificate. If the name has been
changed due to events such as marriage, the candidate
must produce the relevant document such as a marriage
certificate and submit a photocopy at the time of the test,
Interview and at the time of joining a programmeiFees
once paid cannot berefundedunder any circumstances.

The Registration window opens on August 5,2013 and
will close on September 26, 2013. The details about the

There are 40 testcftiss. The detais about the test sites

IIMs reserve the right to change or cancel any test venue
/centre and or change the testwrndowttnaanddates atthelr
own discretion.
CAT 2013 SCORE
A candidates CAT 2013 score card win be made available
to the candidates. Related details will be available at the
website www.cat2013.ilmidr.ac.ln. The CAT results will
be declared on January 14, 2014. CAT 2013 score is valid
till December 31, 2014. The candidates scares will be
made available till December 31, 2014. Subsequentto
that date no queries related to issuance of CAT2013 score
cards will be entertained.
ADMISSION PROCESS
Please note that each IIM shortlists candidates for second
stage of selection which may be Independent of each other.
The process may Include Written Ability Test (WAT), Group
Discussions (GO) and Personal interviews (PI)-
Performance in CAT2013 examina*on is an important
component in the admission process. IIMs may use
previous academic performance of the candidates,
relevant work experience and other similar inputs in shortlisting and ranking of candidates at various stages of the
admission process The processes, academic cut-offs
and the weights allocated to the evaluation parameters
may vary across IIMs. For more information you may refer

Corps).

ELIGIBILITY
Candidates must be BDS/MDS (with minimum 55%
marks in final year BDS) from a College/University
recognized by Dental Council of India (DCI).
Should have completed one year rotatory Internship
recognized by DCI by 31 Aug, 2013.
Should be in possession of Permanent Dental
Registration Certificate valid at leas t upto 31 Dec, 2013.
Should be less than 45 years of age as on 31 Dec, 2013.
Should be medically fit in all respects for service in the
Armed Forces.
SELECTION PROCEDURE.
Short-llstlna for Interview: Candidates found eligible will
be short-listed based on their Final year BDS marks and
attempts taken in Final year BDS. Short-listed candidates
will be called for interview.
Medical Examination: Candidates provisionally placed on
merit list after interview by Selection Board will be broughtbefore a Medical Board for ascertaining their Medical
Fitness. The decision of the Medical Board will be final .
EMOLUMENTS: The candidates on commissioning in
AD Corps will be granted rank of Capt in the pay sca le
PB-3 (15600-39100). They will be entitled Grade Pay of
Rs 6100/- & Military Service Pay (MSP) of Rs 6000/-.
Non-practicing allowance (NPA) at the rate of 25% of the
Basic pay+Grade Pay + MSP and DA as admissible. In
addition, entitled free ration, subsidized accommodation
and allied facilities shall be provided. MDS degree holder
will be eligible for PG allowance of Rs.1250/- p.m. or
specialist pa/ after undergoing the laid down procedure.
In addition, officers are entitled to 60 days annual leave &
20 days casual leave, LTC, free Medical facilities for self
and family Including dependent parents, Group Insurance
& unit canteen facility etc. as per the existing rules.
TENURE: The SSC tenure is of 5 years extendable byanother 9 years in two spells; first of 5 years and secondof 4 years (total SSC tenure 14 years) for those who are
willing to continue subject to laid down eligibility criteria
under the provisions of Army Instructions 15/79 as
amended. On completion of 2 years service as SSC
officer, they are eligible to apply for limited number of
vacanies available for Departmental Permanent
Commission (DPC) provided they had not attained the
age of 30 years for BDS candidates and 35 years for
MDS candidates on 31 Dec of the year of application for
DPC under the provision of Army Instructions 37/78 as
amended.
PROMOTIONS: SSC officers are eligible for time scale
promotion up to the rank of Lt Col. Permanent
Commissioned (PC) officers are eligible for time scale
promotion up to the rank of Lt Col, thereafter up to the
rank of Lt Gen by selection. Candidates who hold three
years MDS Degree will be eligible for three years antedateseniority. They will be promoted to the rank of Substantive
Major on completion of 114 years service, whereas,
candidates with BDS Degree will be promoted after 4 !4
years.
ENTITLEMENT : Candidates are entitled To and fro
second class railway fare by Mail/Express train or actual
cost of bus fare if the mode of travel is by bus, and, DA at
prescribed rates for the days of halt at Delhi. Candidates
appearing for the second or subsequent time are not
eligible for the above entitlement.

Degree or Diploma in translation from Hindi to English
and vice-versa from a recognized University.
Note-1 :As per Ministry of Human Resource Development
Notification No. 44 dated 01.03.1995 published in Gazette
of India edition dated 08.04.1995, the Degree obtained
through open Universities/Distance Education Mode
needs to be recognized by Distance Education Council,
IGNOU. Accordingly, unless such Degrees had been
recognized for the period when the candidates acqui red
the relevant qualification, they will not be accepted for
the purpose of Educational Qualification.
Note-II : Candidates who have not acquire/will not aquire the
educational qualification as on 01.08.2013 will not be
eligible and need not apply.
Note-III : All candidates who are called for interview will be
required to produce at the time of interview the relevant
Certificates such as Mark sheets, Provisional Certificate,
etc. as proof of having acquired the minimum educational
qualification on or before the 01.08.2013 failing which the
candidature of such candidates will be cancelled by tho
Commission.
SCHEME OF EXAMINATION :
The examination will consist of two parts, viz.
PART-I Written Examination carrying 400 marks; and
PART-II Personality Test (Interview) carrying 100 Marks.

NOTE-I :
Paper-I will consist of Objective Type- Multiple choicequestions only. Paper-II shall be evaluated in respect of
only those candidates, who attain a minimum qualifying
standard in Paper-I as may be fixed at the discretion of
the Commission.
NOTE-II :
Mobile Phones, Calculators or any other electronic /
electrical device are strictly banned in the Examination
Hall. Candidates must net, therefore, bring Mobile Phone,
Calculators or any other electronic / electrical device
inside the Examination premises. Possession of these
items, whether in use or not, will be considered as use
of unfair means in the Examination and appropriate
action will be taken by the Commission against such
candidates, as per extant policy of the Commission.
NOTE-III :
There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each
wrong answer in Paper-I. Candidates are, therefore,
advised to keep this in mind while answering thequestions.
NOTE-IV :
Canvassing in any form will disqualify the candidates .
PART-II :
PERSONALITY TEST/INTERVIEW: 100 Marks
NOTE-I :
Only those candidates who secure in the written
examination the minimum qualifying marks as may be
fixed by the Commission at their discretion, will be eligible
at least to appear at the Interview. The interview will be
held at the Commissions Regional /Sub-Regional
Offices or at any other place as decided by the
Commission.
NOTE-II :
SC/ST candidates cal led for interview wil l be paid TA as
per Govt. Orders. However, no TA is payable to any
candidate for appearing in the written examination.
SYLLABUS
Paper-I :

The questions will be designed to test the candidates
understanding of the language correct use of
words,phrases and idioms and ability to write language
correctly, precisely and effectively.
Paper-II :
Translation and Essay: 200 Marks (Conventional
Type)
The paper will contain two passages for translation-one
passage for translation from Hindi to English and one
passage for translation from English to Hindi, and an
Essay each in Hindi and English to test the candidates
translation skills and their ability to write as well as
comprehend the two languages correctly, precisely and
effectively.

I. The Commission uses standard application form for all
its examinations. Therefore, please read the instructions
given in the Notice of Examination and also given below
carefully before filling up the application form, in your

as indicated in Para-7 of the Notice
