Children (3-5 years) are making the Rooster of Portugal

Eeva Mölkänen is explaining the children how they can make a rooster .

Eeva is a local artist, who wanted to help children in their project as voluntary work.

Children are tearing newspapers for the body of the rooster.

Children are building the body of the rooster with pieces of paper and masking tape.

Students are learning, how to make paste.

Many layers of paste and papers strengthens rooster`s back.

Boys have heard of someone, who paints with his mouth and they wanted to try it themselves. It was not easy!

Almost done! He still needs a wattle,a beak, a tail and wings.

Making the tail requires a lot of strength

The rooster is going to be very proud of his new tail.

We had to eat a lot of candies and chocolate before making wings! (Some teachers helped them in eating…)

We tried to use mostly recycling materials in this project. So children learnt principles of sustainable development.

First wing is almost done. Because the rooster is visiting in Finland now, he wanted blue and white colours to his wings.

The rooster of Portugal in all its glory. His finnish name is now:

MARTTI PUNAHELTTA

Children invented the name.

Rooster of Portugal in his wellcome party. Pre-school students also came to celebrate the rooster.

We like our Martti-rooster very muchand we feed it recularly. Children made orange muffins to this party. Soon after this photo was taken, the rooster ate his muffin.
