ROCK’N ROOT WORDS

Bellwork Lessons

PREFIX, SUFFIX, and ROOT

PREFIXES

▪ Letters placed in front of a word that changes its meaning.

SUFFIXES ▪ Letters placed at the end

of a word that changes its meaning.

ROOTS ▪ The base, or original,

word. It does not have a prefix or a suffix.

Lesson 1.1 NUMBERS

1. Paste the prefix, root, and suffix chart to the top of your notebook paper.

2. Underneath, copy the web chart to the right.

3. After you copy the chart, connect the correct root word listed in the inner circle to the word parts listed in the outer circles. You may have to use a root word more than once!
