ROBERT PETERSON PORTFOLIO I am a graphic and traditional artist, having refined my skills through several eclectic ventures. Although I have the education to adhere to tradional practices and to deliver conventionally and professionally appealing design, my strengths lie outside the proverbial “box”. I have a sense for off-kilter, retro, and sometimes bizarre and macabre design. Please enjoy some of the examples contained within.

LAYOUT

A book showcasing some well known cult films, bound with actual VHS magnetic tape.

PACKAGE DESIGNA set of wine bottles designed in Art Nouveau style. One of Mucha’s season series reimagined as Horse(wo)men of the Apocalypse.

PACKAGE DESIGN

A “happy meal” box design.

A series of print ads for Bo’s Ice cream parlor.

LAYOUT

The menu/flyer I created for Bo’s Ice Cream parler

TYPOGRAPHY

Typographic portraits have become popular. But rather than a simple layer mask, I wanted to “paint” the words into the portrait, with high contrast, potent negative space, and subtle tones in between.

TYPOGRAPHY

A woodtype poster for a performance of Macbeth.

PHOTO MANIPULATION

Album cover for upstart hip hop collaborators. I have worked with this label several times, and have moved from hand-rendered designs to digital for them. This design is fully photo-composite.

PHOTO MANIPULATION AND LOGOThe cover for a calendar featuring roller derby players in the Seattle area. While I was not the photographer for this project, I was in charge of logo creation, as well as color correction and blemish elimination for the entire calendar.

STORYBOARDING

Storyboard for a proposed Pringles commercial. Completely hand-rendered in Prismacolor pencil and liner pens.

ENVIRONMENTAL GRAPHICS

Here, the banners are depicted in the museum’s rotunda.

Banners designed for a fictional Stanley Kubrick exhibit for the London Film Museum. Each banner represents a film by Kubrick.
