ROBERT HEIDERSBACH
AUTHOR, PROFESSOR,
& ENGINEER
Experienced engineer,
forensic consultant,
and former professor
Robert Heidersbach
published “Metallurgy
and Corrosion Control
in Oil and Gas
Production” in 2011.
The book provides a
general understanding
of how and why
corrosion occurs and
the practical
approaches to how the
effects of corrosion can
be mitigated.
While the target audience for
the book is recent graduates
from engineering programs, it
also provides valuable
information for people new to
the oil and gas, chemistry,
metallurgy, and corrosion
industries.
“Metallurgy and Corrosion
Control in Oil and Gas
Production” is based on
Robert Heidersbach’s
experience teaching new
engineers all around the
world the need to truly
understand how metallurgy
and corrosion control affects
the oil industry.
He has been fortunate enough
to teach corrosion classes and
training sessions in Brunei,
which is a small nation in the
South China Sea; Colombia;
Denmark; Egypt; Indonesia;
Japan; Malaysia; Turkey;
Taiwan; and Trinidad and
Tobago.
Since his work has taken him
all over the world, and Robert
truly enjoys the opportunity
to meet people from different
cultures and connect over a
common interest of
metallurgy and corrosion
control.
There is a saying that goes
something like this: “If you
want to learn a subject, teach
it.” Most of the subjects
covered in this book have
been suggested by
participants in classes I have
taught worldwide to
industrial audiences.
During my career as a
professor, I tried to bring
into the classroom the
lessons taught to me from
these industrial courses and
from my consulting
practice.
