Robert George Beyer was born on May is, 1942 in Wheaton to George and
Lydia (Raguse) Beyer. He was baptized on June 21, 1942 at St. Paul's Lutheran
Church, Taylor Township and was also confirmed there on April 3, 1955. Bob
attended District 44 Elementary school in Taylor Township (which he recently
helped restore) and graduated from Tintah High School.
On December 3, 1967 Bob was married to Darlene (Toepke) at Trinity
Lutheran Church in Bloomington, Illinois. The couple made their home in
Taylor Township, residing in several locations near family farm sites. In recent
years they also enjoyed spending time together at their second house on
South Turtle Lake. When St. Paul's Church closed in 1975, Bob and Darlene
joined the sister congregation at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Bob was dedicated to farming his entire life. He started farming with his
father George at an early age and continued in farm activities until his last
year. His favorite time away from his family was in the combine', and he
assisted son Rodd with harvests even through retirement. Bob had many
related talents and interests including acting as a licensed commodities broker
with business in Fergus Falls and later in Wheaton. He was an original
shareholder in MinnDak Coop Sugar Factory, and farming beets was an
important part of his life.
Bob spent much time serving others in his life. Bob was proudly serving in
the National Guard when he met Darlene in Minot, North Dakota. Bob served
as an elder and then as congregational chairman for many years at Immanuel
Lutheran Church. He served for eighteen years on the Traverse County Coop
Board. He also served on the Traverse County Farm Bureau Board where he
also was a salesman for Trojan Corn and Safemark Tires and Oil.
Bob was an avid fisherman, enjoying his time with friends and family on
many fishing trips and days on South Turtle with his grandchildren in
retirement. He also expressed his creativity and artistic nature through
woodworking and was able to share his creations with many. Always intrigued
with airplanes and flight, Bob built and flew RC planes with friends for many
years as part ofthe Black Sheep RC Club in Wheaton. He thoroughly enjoyed
playing cards with family and friends throughout his life, and he especially
loved playing with his grandchildren.
Bob will be missed greatly by his family who were blessed to have him in
our lives.
