Robby The RobotOn Patrol

Robby landed the saucer on a fairly stable outcropping of rock.

Then stepped out to patrol the new planet—It was leafy.

The vegetation was lush—and colorful, and leafy.

And colorful and lush and, and, leafy.

It was a veritable garden of, well, Babylon. Robby was from LI, NY.

But Robby knew better than to trust a pretty face—or flora.

Robby had been on pretty planets before. It wasn’t pretty.

Suddenly, or as suddenly as geography can change, it did.

Robby found the landscape shifting

The greenery faded. To be replaced by….

Well, giant sea shells. Robby did not want to meet this crab.

The beach contained strange minerals.

And oddly familiar edifices…. mom?

Then, without a reason, it changed again.

Robby raised his radar. Robby had sonar too. And a cup holder.

But to no avail. Robby had been spotted.

And pawed. Robby began to ready defenses

Only moments existed for Robby to get free.

Robby initiated defense protocol 23.

Robby quickly reversed polarization of the warp field.

To create the sound of prey off in the distance. Maybe like bunnies.

It worked and Robby quickly moved to cover.

Robby checked Google intergalactic maps.

Noted the coordinates and the fastest route without tolls.

And began the journey back to the ship.

It was rocky.

Very rocky.

Very, very rocky.

Except for the squash.

And other vegetables.

Soon the ship was in sight.

Soon Robby was almost there.

There, and not soon enough.

Robby took off, and, once safely in orbit, logged a report, oiled the parts on the inside that needed it, watched a little Netflix, buffed out a few dents, and then entered the coordinates for the next planet he needed to explore. Who knew what Robby would find there? Who knows what you’ll find on the next slideshare? Life is like that. Full of unknowns. Full of songs you can’t get out of your head and coffee shops on the wrong side of one way streets. Learn to live with it.
