We are the members of the U.P. Industrial Engineering Club, a duly recognized organization based in U.P. Diliman, College of Engineering. Since its humble beginnings in 1967, it has grown into the largest organization in the College of Engineering which has a diverse membership base consisting of students not only fro Industrial Engineering but from the various colleges in the Diliman Campus. Through the years, IE Club has established a tradition of excellence by engaging itself in various activities catering to the academic, extra-curricular, socio-civic needs and interests of its members and the community. Last January 2007, the organization was recognized as the best organization in the College through the victory in the Engineering Organization Excellence Award, and in 2009, as part of the region's top ten organization by the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) Award of the National Youth Commission.

Road Race, an Amazing Race around the Metro, has been one of UP Industrial Engineering Club’s annual events for the past ten years for the benefit of the UP IE Club Scholarship Fund. Last October 8, 2011, UP IE Club successfully organized Road Race 2011: IGNIT10N and DRIFT: Road Race 2011 After Party. IGNIT10N targeted sports enthusiasts and adventure seekers as the theme was to promote health and fitness through a sports-adventure race. At 6:30AM, the teams gathered at the Main Library and were given an orientation, along with their drifit shirts, race kits and Powerade drink. Despite the rain, Ignit10n started promptly at 8:00AM in UP Diliman. 16 teams of four raced around Metro Manila, completing fun yet physically and mentally challenging tasks along the way for the grand prize of P15,000. The teams got to experience unique challenges such as TRX by Perfomance Kinetix, 5-legged race around the oval, badminton game using ping pong paddles at Celebrity Sports Club, tent pitching in ROX and photo sprinting at Ocean Park. The first team, Save Ipo Dam, arrived at 2:00PM at Il Terrazzo, Quezon City. DRIFT served as a culminating activity at Ariato, Il Terrazzo where racers had their dinner and winners were awarded. It was definitely a night of celebration as everyone was entertained with good sounds by the DJ, free flowing drinks by Red Horse, The Bar, Boracay Rum and Tanduay and games by Nova and The Bar.

Road Race ‘11

CONCEPT

The Road Race is one of the organizationʼs annual events. It is a competition where in groups

of four to five people race through different pit stops and locations around the metro, carrying

out different tasks that eventually lead them to the finish line, similar to the famous reality game

show, “The Amazing Race”. Unhealthy diets and physical inactivity have become part of hectic city

life. Now on its tenth year, UP IE Clubʼs Road Race once again promote health, wellness and adventure for fitness-conscious urbanites. With

this, Road Race 2011: Ignit10n, wants to emphasize on promoting health and fitness through a sports-themed adventure race.
