André’s favorite play areas

He loves it in his cell playhouse. He tends to spend most his time in the ribosome jungle gym though.

André has always been good at making copies of this. Ever since he was born, I could just send him off to the ribosomal coping machine, he could easy make a new one. Well, a new but identical one.

nucleotide bases

phosphate group

ribose (sugar)

Subunits

Uracil Cytosine

Guanine

Adenine

On one end, you have the phosphate backbone which is covalent connected via amide linkages.

On the other end, amine groups are hydrogen bonded to carbonyl groups.

Covalent bonds are the strongest, hydrogen bonds are one of the weakest, thus allowing for occasional unlatching for replication, repair, etc.

Functional Groups

Family:nucleic acids

These nucleotides are made of three parts. 1. A five carbon sugar 2. A base that has a nitrogen (N) atom3. An ion of phosphoric acid

The nucleic acids are the building blocks of living organisms.

General FunctionThe main function of nucleic acids is to store and transmit genetic information and use that information to direct the synthesis of new protein.

Andre’s FunctionRNA transmits genetic information from DNA to the protein synthesizers in the cell. RNA is also responsible for directing the production of the new protein by transmitting the genetic information to the protein building structures.

Why am I Such a great mother?

mRNA - messenger RNA - is a "copy" of the DNA base sequence of a gene after processing. tRNA - transfer RNA - is "charged" with an amino acid and used to recognize the code in the mRNA and translate it into the amino acid it is carrying. rRNA - ribosomal RNA -a molecular component of a ribosome, the cell's essential protein factory.

I make a good parent for my André because I know all there is to know about him. He is made of three major parts; mRNA, tRNA, and rRNA. I give him space to work (inside ribosomes) and only tell him what to do when its time to recoil. ← Mr. DNA from Jurassic Park
