So how do we communicate that we are covering the higher order thinking skills to people who might speak a different language?
Finally a book has
come out that
addresses the
importance of right-
brained thinking.
How can we use the
information from
this book to the
best advantage?

Revenge of the Right Brain
Logical and precise, left-brain thinking gave us the Information Age. Now comes the Conceptual Age - ruled by artistry, empathy, and emotion.

Practice 3: Flip What’s FoolishMake it wise to be foolish, and every fool will generate wisdom
“How Fascinating!”
Imagination First When imagination becomes a habit, it can transform your work and your life.
Practice 10: Untie Your Tongue
Talk about your work with someone who doesn't understand it.
Practice 5: Reinvent the Wheel
Be willing to give back the givens.
Some things we take to be laws of nature, or works of mankind long ago perfected. Take the wheel. If ever there was a cliché about creative work, it is that we should at all costs avoid ‘‘reinventing the wheel.’’
Lincoln Center Institute’s 50 Imagination Conversations Project is an ambitious new initiative to explore the role and importance of imagination in all areas of human endeavor, from the artist’s studio to the classroom to the boardroom.
Lincoln Center Institute is contributing to the discussion with several ambitious projects designed to bring a cornucopia of ideas concerning the propagation of the imagination to educators (and others) across the country. One project is 50 Imagination Conversations; the idea is to hold a Conversation in each of the 50 states over the next two years, culminating in America’s Imagination Summit in spring 2011.

both the degree of inventiveness and creativity, and the possibility of discovery, are directly proportional to the number and kinds of variables in it.”
NEW POLL REVEALS STIFLING IMAGINATION IN SCHOOLS UNDERLIES INNOVATION AND SKILLS DEFICIT
Evidence Points To New Values Coalition Of Swing Voters Ready to Act to KeepAmerica CompetitiveWashington, D.C. (Jan. 24) – Results from a national poll were released today
by Lake
Research Partners identifying a new strand of swing voters poised to support candidates
and policy that ensures building capacities of the imagination in schools. The new national survey of 1,000 likely voters, with a 3.1% margin of error, identifies
that30% of American voters are not only dissatisfied with public education’s narrow focus
onthe “so-called” basics but that they also believe developing the imagination is a
critical, butmissing, ingredient to student success in 21st century schools and moving studentsbeyond average.
The Imagine Nation
57% of voters say they would be more likely to vote for a candidate who came out
in support of more funding for development of skills of the imagination in schools.
• 57% of voters say they would be less likely to vote for a candidate who votes to cut
funding for building capacities of the imagination in public education, and 36%
percent of voters say they would be much less likely to do so.
The Imaginenation
73% of voters believe (63% strongly) that building capacities of the imagination that
lead to innovation is just as important as the “so called” basics for all students.
• 56% of American voters believe that, when compared to other nations, America
devotes less attention to developing the imagination and innovation. Only 19% of respondents believe the United States is ahead.
The Imaginenation
You are already “doing” higher order thinking skills in your room, you just need to let administration know it.
Advocate for yourself; no one else is going to. Use guerilla warfare tactics.
Make an advocacy wall. Post reports from people and agencies who speak the left-brained Corbusier language.
At the same time:Let everyone know about the increasing
importance of right-brained thinking in the future economy .
